I have 2004 c5Z and this winter I have bought some bolt on performance parts for my car. I have now Vararam intake, texas speed long tube headers, X pipe, B&B catback and LS7 cluch.
Now my question is what kind of cam and head I should get, I still would like my car to be street car and nice to drive not to hot cam or anything like that, If I take it to the strip I would like it to go under 12 sec with drag radials.
This is a tried and true setup. Very consistant, great driveability. I am not a fan of gears but that is my opion. Dont do the fast and you will probably about about 430.
From: Marlton. Increasing performance one speeding ticket at a time! NJ
224 or 228 are smallish cams that are decent and still retain a lot of driveability.
Can't go wrong with AFR or Trickflow heads, but then again you're paying top $$$$ for the best. A lot of your other parts are more budget minded, so I'd suggest looking at decent midrange heads like PRCs. Keep in mind, that if you decide to go cam only, you'll still have to upgrade your springs and pushrods.
The good news is your existing heads are worth quite a bit of change since they are original Z06 parts.

This alone would meet your goal but if you want a bit more nasty cam
then perhaps consider this streetable grind........ http://www.engpwrsys.com/index.php?a...od&productId=8
Geoff Skinner(EPS) is a great cam guy and can custom spec one for ya
based on your exact demands. He really gets into detail explaining what
sets his propriotary lobes apart from others on the market and you will
enjoy the process of learning and picking what YOU want.
Look ahead to likely future mods before making your current ones.
Last summer I had my tuner (Patrick at Quality Motor Sports in Lewisville, TX) install AFR 210 heads and a "mild" cam in my 2002 A4 coupe. At the time we selected that cam I told him that I might, in the future, supercharge the car. With that future mod in mind, he selected a cam for me that he promised would be fun but still (as he described it) "within spittin' distance" of a blower cam. The end result was about 400 rwhp and 400 lb/ft of torque.
Sure enough, this week I took the car back to him so he could install 3:42 gears, a stall converter and an A&A blower. That cam he installed last year? It's going to work just fine with this set-up. Had I told him, last year, to install a more aggressive cam, in hindsight that selection likely would have proven to be a wasted expenditure.
So (as Stephen Covey used to say) "...begin with the end in mind." Then select accordingly.
