Nah, my friend is married, she's just a friend. I was just curious where the stereotype comes from. I couldn't care less, i'm sure corvettes get more compliments that not. I just wonder why the ultimate american sports car gets such a weird rap sometimes.....
Ask enough people and you'll get the answer you seek. I'm not in mid-life (69) nor am I gay (not that there's anything wrong with that) but I drive a 2000 Vette and could not care less what other people think. You shouldn't either.
Scott
I think your lady friend is "WRONG"!!!!
Life is short, do what you want!
If you are chasing this lady friend then you have to choose what your priorities are.......
For me a Corvette wins!
I told a friend on mine i'm think about buying a corvette and she said she would never date anyone that drives a corvette. I've also heard women refer to guys who drive corvettes as "gay". Whats with the stereotype? I'm 30 years old and currently single and really want to buy my first vette. To me, a corvette is the ultimate iconic american muscle car! Do you guys ever encounter this stereotype? Would my car be less gay if it sounded like a bumble bee and was made in some south pacific country?
Heard the midlife thing when I got my first Harley at 34 even though I had ridden bikes since I was 20 and heard it again when got the vette at 45. I just figure that means I'm solid until 90 now.
My first corvette a 02 z6 and I am over 70 got it in the fall so am waiting for the snow to go ,body may be getting older but not the mind
NOT bald or fat ,just like fast cars
I've also heard women refer to guys who drive corvettes as "gay".
Hmmm... I have always heard that women that don't like guys who drive Corvettes are Lesbians? Not sure who is right.
Maybe they are confusing "Gay" with "Happy"? ...
If it is mid-life crisis, then I have been having that for the past 40 years of driving Corvettes. If I had to convince myself that driving an SUV or Pickup Truck everyday was "practical", I would be bitter every time I saw a Corvette too!
Sorry, but this whole thread is "gay." What did u expect the responses from guys on this forum would be?! Be honest with yourself and dont get the vette because IMO Im not feelin ur being honest with us and really want one.
RULE #1. Never listen to a woman's point of view when she is not your wife.
RULE #2. You are not buying the car for her, you are buying it for you.
RULE #3. The only "gay" sports car, is the one that is more fitting for a woman. ie: Mazda Miata covertible.
And lastly, if she is subtly hinting that "I would never date YOU if you buy a COrvette" that is just a selfish woman's way of thinking you will never have enough money to spend on her.
In all cases, ditch the bitch and get the Vette!
Case and Point: One of my EX-GFs said the same crap when I was buying a Porsche. Even at the dealership, she embarrasses me and says I don't know what you need a second car...It' snot like your first one is broke down....I really don't see a need for you to get this....Do you REALLY need this that bad?" I told her to "Would you shut up, I am not buying it for you, I am buying it for me." Her famous last words then were "The girlfriend will always be there, the car won't." I dumped her two months later due to her arrogant, selfish, ANNOYING attitude. Although I did trade the Porsche 2 years later, it surely outlasted that pain in the ***. Oh by the way, I traded it in on a Vette!!!
