I am wanting to install my Calloway Honker however I keep reading about hydralock. I have now read about AEM air bypass unit. What is everyones opinion on these? Are they full proof? Any input is welcome and thank you in advance to all that respond
My Honker has been on my car for more than three years now and I've driven it in all sorts of weather without any problems ever in the wet. The performance enhancement is noticeable so put it on!
The bypass is designed so that if the entire intake is submerged, the pressure head of the column of water will cause the flapper valves in the bypass to open, releasing the suction on the column of water and pulling filtered air from the bypass. Primarily these are for vehicles with low level intake filters. Could help for the vette, but I don't think it's likely that the Callaway Honker would become fully submerged.

If you submerge your car that much, you're going to worry about more than a blown motor. I have the honker now and had a Vararam for years on my 97 (the last year with a vortech blower) Driving in the heaviest downpour i no issue. Driving in standing water is just a bad idea.
What is everyones opinion on the "Big Mouth Air Dam" by Mid America along with the Honker? It seems like it would be a great set up I have my reservations regarding water however.

Funny that you ask. My '97 is pretty much an all out race car now. I am running the BMAD and Honker together. Awesome combo. I have run it a couple times in the rain with no issues, but not on a regular basis.

That creates a significant ground clearance issue especially on speed bumps, and steep driveways. It's stainless steel which sounds great except if you happen to hit something it will bend instead of breaking off...further reducing your ground clearance or possibly leaving you stranded.
I get the same effect from my Vortex chin splitter except it has a rounded nose. IF (and this is a big if) I happen to run up over something, it has enough give that it will flex or break isolating damage to that piece only.
