Ive found a little info on this but im looking to get some clarification on removing the AIR system, think thats what is correctly called (those hoses/pipes beside the head bolted into the manifolds aswell)
Is it possible I can just remove everything, cap and plate it off and have no issues? Or will I need to have it turned off in the tune to avoid CEL or any other issues?
You will need to have the system "deleted from the computer" to prevent the CES light. Its often done after headers are installed.
There are menu's ( viewed on a laptop connected to the cars OBDII connector) that show the various systems the computer will monitor and most tuning software allow the actual menu item to be removed, so its like the computer doesn't even know the system ever existed.
If you're gonna go through the trouble, why not just get aftermarket headers? It accomplishes your objective while adding noticeable power. I realize it's more expensive, but...
