I had seen the post by Gene about GM no longer making the stripes and that's why I was thinking about painting them on. Beside like some said it's more durable painted just not your true OEM. It's been awhile since they been off and forgot the true color of the carbon fiber look stripe. From what I remember it had a gold tint, I can give it the carbon fiber look painted on the center stripe but not the words of carbon fiber. I would have to source that out if I wanted it. Other thing is wait to see if someone will offer a gm license reproduction 2004 z06 ce stripes. I seen the stripes below but from the pic the carbon fiber stripe is not correct in color. Maybe painting this coming weekend , tic toc

I bought mine with a damaged stripe on the hood. Luckily it was just the silver. This is when I discovered how expensive these stripes are.
So I went to a vinyl guy I know and he managed to cut the silver out and lay in a new piece. As we were chatting, he mentioned the CF inlay part would be a problem. I am now thinking maybe get him to scan the OEM decals and then get them done that way. Might be a licensing issue, but if I can't get them, and I own the car, c'est la vie. The way I see it, even airbrushing has the same licensing issues. But then again, I am not a lawyer.
Anybody here ever talk to a custom vinyl shop to see if scanning and reproducing digitally is even possible?

Here is why im asking, i was going to paint them in and the painter was having a hard time getting the radius right. I told him to just paint the car w/o the stripes. I was to nervous that there would be a diffence and i could not live with it. To much time and money to screw up the stripes. GM Z16 stripes are what i want.
