C5 Nav Upgrade Options?
I'm interested in upgrading my stock in dash unit to a nav system, but initial research is showing this to be an annoyingly complex endeavor with limited options. I'd like to have a unit with all the common bells & whistles, if possible - touchscreen, nav, bluetooth, bluetooth STREAMING, iPhone connectivity, option for SIRIUS. I'm not interested in getting a mediocre unit.
Am I really limited to single din units, or is a double din install possible? I don't want to do a major dash modification.
Any answers/help is appreciated.

As you know, GM engineers decided to use the stock 1.5 DIN Bose headunit that was common at the time. As a result, we C5 owners have the option of going with an aftermarket single din unit which IMO sticks out like a sore thumb in an otherwise nice C5 interior design or go with a true double din modification. Below is the decision I made which does provide all the bells and whistles you listed.
If this is the direction you want to go, I predict you will meet a guy named "Dennis" in the near future.

Call Dennis at Double D Mods. He is the goto guy here on the forum for Double din work.
My double din looks like it came from the factory. His work is exceptional and customer service is legendary.

I had a local pro stereo and custom audio shop install my system as I also laid down some RaamMat sound absorbing material, swapped out the stock speakers and installed a custom sub-woofer in the trunk.
Dennis @ DD Mods may have some recomendations for an installer.

dennis is definitely the one to talk to. you outlined your options in your open. dennis can handle the bezel mod, then your only remaining function is to decide (with Dennis' input) which head unit meets your needs and pocketbook. most folks seem to go kenworth, but I chose the pioneer head unit and added a Sirius unit. it has all the items you mentioned as do many of the new head units. get in touch with dennis as a first step.

I love this unit. It has everything you said, plus you can hook up a rear camera & iphone/ipad controls.
They make a double din and a single din, flip out version. I have the flip out version.
