Hey guys Im in the search for my first vette right now, I finally sold off the bike. Im looking to be in the $15k range hopefully a little less! it has to be a 6 speed and do not want a convertable. What should I be looking out for when going over the vette? The ones near me right now in my price range have aroung 100,000-120,000 on them. How do these cars hold up at that many mile, what goes wrong on them? I purchased a lemon pick-up this winter (which is gone now) but obviously dont want to end up with a lemon vette! Any info is very much appreciated as im pretty much going in blind at this. Thanks Eric
When I started my painful search, the best thing I ever did was do a universal search on Google.
I was looking for an FRC. So I typed in "FRC Corvette for sale." It allowed me to see where everyone was posting them for sale. Yes, you will get results 2000 miles away, but once you are on those sites, you can generally refine the search of the original link. You'll find links to "Oodle" and "Yahoo" and sites you've never heard of.
So, simply put: start your search big and broad. Narrow it down from there. I finally found my dream project 7.5 hours away from my hometown on Oodle, which linked to a Craigslist ad from another state that I never would have found. I pick her up on Saturday
thanks! I try that out, ive been trying to search everywhere and it is a painful search! I really dont want to settle for a color or option that I dont really want but in my price range im affraid I might not have a choice? I'll keep looking though
My price range was the exact same as yours. And I hear you on the options. I wanted an FRC (which is already hard enough to find) and I wanted it red. God came through.
you should be able to pick one up under 100,000 miles for 15k or under . these cars drop in price over 75k miles. the engines are rock solid but rear diffs are known to go out aorund that mileage so i suggest wich ever one you pick out make sure you drive it first.
