Default MAF Issues

I have done enough testing and reading to find out why I keep getting lean bank 1 & 2 codes. If I have my Blackwing air filter on I get codes but If I put the stock air box back on they go away.

They guy who owned the car before me took the screen out of the MAF and I belive this to be what my issue is. Where can I get another one or maybe somthing better?

Just get a mail order tune from one of the vendors on here. I think you're better off without the screen but i may be wrong. Someone sells a honeycomb screen that creates less disturbance in the air flow or something like that. I myself need to just get around to pulling my PCM and sending it off to ECS.

Removing the MAF screen does not harm anything. Chevrolet finally wised up and stopped using it on Corvettes.

I have cleaned the MAF & reset the fuel trim's aswell. if the missing screen isn't it the what causes the codes. then why am I getting them when using the blackwing?

Had the same problem after installing a new intake, put the Halltech honeycomb screen in no more lean codes. Just search Halltech youll find it.

That's it. Z06 cars do not have the screen in MAF from the factory. I also installed a Blackwing (and "Ice Box" enclosure for true cold air) on my car when I first got it. I also got intermittent lean bank codes. I think it had to do with the 5,200 ft altitude. A 300 mile round trip for a $300 tune wasn't in my plans.

I modified the oem Z06 intake cover for more air intake. It sounded the same and performed the same as the Blackwing, but I got no lean bank codes.

Recently I installed a CALLAWAY Honker (true cold air) and was concerned about the lean bank codes occurring again as this intake flows more air than the Blackwing and the MAF is moved up next to the throttle body as part of its design.

I installed the HALLTECH screen at the same time. In over 500 miles of mountain driving, no codes. It does work.
