Default Quick Tire/Wheel Question

Quick question gentlemen. I'm sure you guys can teach me about this. I have Z06 wheels on my 99 C5 Coupe. I need to buy new tires. Right now it has 275 on front and 295 on the rear. I have only in the past with previous cars bought the standard width tires for a vehicle. Well actually 275/45/17 on front and 295/30/18 on rear. They are goodyear f1 tires. My question is can the standard Vette size tires (245 Front & 275 Rear) fit the Z06 wheels. I'm strapped for cash right now, doing a bunch of maintenance stuff to the Vette, so I would rather buy good tires at a price I can afford with the standard size tires rather than buy cheaper Sumotomo's at the bigger wider size. I like the 275 & 295, but right now I't trying to go with the best overall choice. I would like to get some BFG KDW or maybe some Nitto tires. I know the BFG KDW has really good wet traction which is at the top of my list. I'm looking to buy from Tirerack unless I find a local shop with one of those buy 3 get 1 free deals. Any advice or suggestions greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Yes, the C5 standard wheel is 1 inch narrower than the Z06 wheel so you only have 1/2 inch on either side to span, but are they that much cheaper? Unless you have bald tires, i would budget myself to wait, considering tires are a 2 or 3 year commitment.
