Default Callaway Honker CAI Question

For those of you running this intake, did you have any fitment issue with the top of the intake rubbing or touching the hood liner?

It seems like a pretty tight fit and I have a nice embroidered hood liner that I want to keep on without ruining it. I guess I could remove it and paint/clear the inside of the hood, however I would like to keep both if possible.

The Honker offers a true cold air intake alternative due to the cut lower radiator shroud and I like the OEM look. I'm just concerned over the fitment.

I appreciate feedback from anyone who has this CAI and can provide user experience.

Thanks!

I'm running one. No real issues here it seems like it fits flush up against the liner but nothing to be conceded about. Best intake on the market.

Thanks. Did you notice any difference in sound compared to the OEM intake?

Mine barely rubs the hood insulator...just a slight indentation seen. It's not anywhere near as bad as the over sized after market air bridge that I used with a Blackwing four years ago. CALLAWAY did a great job engineering the intake to fit like oem.

As long as you measure/cut and install per instructions and use the oem TORX pegs to secure the Honker to the upper radiator cover, you should be fine.

I wish I could say.. It was already on my car when i bought her. Are you talking about that suction sound. If so I don't hear much of that well over my exhaust anyway it sits way up I'n the radiator fan shroud area so there is alot to dull any suction that you may hear.

The Honker is a great choice

I've been leaning toward installing one of these myself. Thanks for asking the questions!

Thanks. I read on another thread that it's important to make sure it is fitted correctly into the cut lower radiator shroud and if everything lines up correctly, it is only slightly taller than the stock set up. It even uses the same OEM bolts to connect into the OEM holes on the upper radiator shroud.

I don't have one, but I checked one out on a car when I was at a local shop because I was interested in one. I was worried about clearance so I scoped it out, didn't look like there were any issues. No marks/scars on the intake or hood....

I had one. Only pulled it off for a blower install. Yes it rubbed the hood liner.

I'm OK with the Honker slightly touching my thicker, embroidered hood liner, however I don't want it to damage it. I'm not sure what constant contact will do to the hoodliner.
