Default Active Handling

Ok now I have one I can't figure out. NO CODES for this problem. Driving along at steady highway speed, DRY ROAD, and all of a sudden, (Frequently) I get this "Active Handling" on the DIC. I have no idea why this is happening. I am pretty darn confident the answer lies on this forum. You folks have never let me down before. Thanks in Advance.

Rut

I think I need to be more explicit. No messages about Servicing Active Handling. Just "Active Handling" as if it was being activated. I even felt light breaking.
I'm starting to become concerned.

Keep searching...I remember reading about something similar to this in the past. The AH kicked in at freeway speeds because it thought the car was out of control when the guy was going straight down the road and it forced him into a guard rail I believe.

Don't know why, but I'm thinking something in the steering column (different from the column lock).

Check this thread out...gets interesting around post #6. http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c5-t...rol-issue.html Steering position sensor could be your issue.

Thats some good information to think about. I just don't think the steering wheel sensor would cause a brake to apply. Would it? Stranger things have happened.

Check for low pressure in one tire. I had the same thing (Active Handling) and it turned out that I had a rear tire that was Very Low on air.

Yes! You have wheel sensors at all 4 corners and the AH monitors those and your steering wheel position sensor. If one of those malfuntions or loses contact (bad ground) with the EBCM, your car thinks your sliding out of control and will apply whatever brake it thinks it needs to in order to correct the car's handling.

Yes it will cause the brakes to be applied. I one of those that had the right front brake lock hard while doing 70mph on the freeway. Guess what - no codes..just an "Active Handling" message on the DIC. A few days later a code popped up for the steering wheel position sensor.

I had the sensor replaced, but I don't trust it anymore. Now when I start the car, I turn off AH/TC

UPDATE: Now I have a code C1214 TCS. Will this be a steering wheel sensor?
