With the pollen count in Charleston now you probably need to wash it every hour. I usually wash before we go for a day-long drive and when we get back home. Then we put it indoors.
When it's dirty, and its my DD... I went a whole month with out washing it last year, It was a full on drought. Just dust it when its got dust on it, not if any of it is dirty.
When its dirty... twice a week if its bad. I can't stand the look of a dirty vette, and there are a bunch of them down here around Pensacola. Pollen, sand, rain make quite the trifecta. Oh yeah: 30,000 miles in the year and a half I've had it... DD, road trips etc...
Mine is a garage queen, she gets washed as needed and almost always after a day out.
Enjoy your "new" C5, had mine 3 years and I still have the silly grin on my face when I am around or out on the road with my "other woman".
Mines not a daily driver. It only sees a California car duster and a quick wipe down with waterless detail sprays before and after it's driven. It also gets waxed and sealed about every three to four weeks like all the other cars I own.
Like the OP stated, I also do not like driving a dirty car...ever!!!
I wipe my vette down every day with when I get home from work with Ice turtle detail spray using microfiber towel, the fender wells I use a wet towel to clean off the road grime, then wipe with detail spray. I use a really soft brush with four inch nylon feather bristles to clean the dust and road pebbles that collect in my tail lights and around the license plate, then wipe with detail spray. May not actually wash unless the highway is damp and the mist has dried on my car.
I gotta save this thread for when people make comments about me.
I like to clean mine once a week if possible, but the weather lately has not let me do that, BUT I am driving less now, so it doesn't necessarily need a wash every week.
Mine is a DD and it looks so good when it's clean, it literally glows, that it seems like a sin to see it dirty. I hate it when it rains for several days in a row because you just can't keep it clean. This week I received my Porter Cable, Zaino and Dr. Color Chip. I'v spent the last two days doing the exterior detail. Wash, dry, clay bar, Polish, paint chip touch-up and wax. I'm about to go out and buff off the second coat of Zaino in a few minutes. I've learned one thing from this weekend's experience. Unless you're 4 feet tall or a lot younger than me, you need a lift to detail a corvette! I hurt everywhere! I'ts worth it though, just to know I've got it looking as good as it can get.
By the way, the California duster is great for keeping the daily accumulation of dust off between washings. Also great for removing all the polishing dust before waxing.
Driving around in a shiny vette. Don't it just make you smile?
