Default Transport Question

Hi

Before l go on l have searched the various car carriers but l'm still up in the air.

I will be moving from Central NJ to the Atlanta Ga area and being that l have three cars, one being an 02 coupe l was thinking about shipping it.

But at the same time the community that l will be moving too has something called rolling curbs which will make it impossible to put my vette into the garage.

I saw in Autoweek a solution for l believe $400 but l am not sure it would be allowed.

I would sell it to one of my friends or relatives but the college age kids would love it but would want a larger vehicle to move both friends and things between college and home and points unknown.

All of my friends have vettes so that is now out.

Going down to see if the builder can do something or allow me to put a hard rubber ramp with a water flow channel by the curb.

Because my vette has only 20,000+ miles and not a mark on it plus all the important options l would hate to sell it.

By the way has anybody transported a vette from central NJ to Atlanta and who did they use and how much did it cost?

And if l seem to be rambling on l'm sorry just hate to part with it, if l have to.

Thanks

Alan

I used Intercity for two seperate C5 transports from Indiana to So Cal in 2010, back-to-back. They were awesome. Here are the threads I posted.

Kingman,

Most of the communities in the Atlanta area use the rolling curbs and they aren't that big of a deal if the slope of the driveway is minimal. You can often get by just going up at a slight angle one wheel at a time.

Check out "Brijit" on Google. They work well and have the water channel. As long as it is not permanent, few HOA's have rules against them. They are much more strict with those rolling basketball hoops that some people never put away.

If you are buying the house, you should be entitled to a copy of the Convenants and you should get them now and check it out.

Good luck and welcome to the Atlanta area!

HTWHLS is correct. I lived in Atlanta many years and had bought my first C5 there. We had rolling curbs in my subd where I had my lowered vette and I never had a problem driving over them. As mentioned above - just take them at an angle to minimize the possibility of scraping. Actually, my current driveway is more challenging than any other I've encountered and I can still get my lowered vettes in the garage without damage.

Make sure you get a reliable carrier for your long transport. I've heard good things about Intercity, and Reliable. Both very reputable carriers.

I used uship.com to ship my Corvette from Florida to Michigan when I bought it. Its a site similiar to ebay where people bid on your business. I paid $500 to ship my C5.

Your second option would be to pay for my plane ticket and I would be more than willing to drive 1 of your 3 cars back.

Whatever you choose, best of luck.
