If you buy a PC "package", you will still need to buy backing plates for whatever correction system you select, so go with the least expensive PC you find. Unless you can use the accessories in other applications.
I use the 7346 SP from LOWE'S

Are they really better than the porter-cable ones ??
If you want more power and a trigger that allows you to control the speed, and far less vibration then yes. The 3401 is basically a hybrid of a rotary and the PC. Plus it's built well, and quite frankly cut the polish times on my cars in half. That said, I see where the Flex is now running about $320 on several sites. That's getting pretty steep in the price category. However, I looked at it this way when getting the Flex: How many cars will I polish, how much time do I want to spend, and what quality of polisher do I want? Plus the newer microfiber pads are making it an even more efficient polisher.
Still doesn't tell what the difference is. it's still just a random orbital polisher as is the porter-cable unit.
Seen them... he uses a porter-cable unit.
Then look it up and find out if you don't know. I was merely trying to help. No, they are quite different and in the hand of a novice you can ruin your paint. Words from the experts not mine.

No offence ment buddy.... I just wasn't sure if they were the same type of unit with one being more costly than the other due to the name....
I'll be getting a PC.

Thanks for the heads up !! That's the cheapest price I've seen for this unit in while ! Ordering and paying for it online and picking it up at my local store on the way home today.

Pls see above... The SP comes with a BP for adhesive type sand paper (disc type)...
The SP does come w/ a foam pad, but I would not use it on the finish of a Corvette.
