for those of you with bolt on kits, how much does it usually run to have them installed. i know minor shaving is necessary. is this going to be a grand or under?
I have heard a couple of different things but usually the quote seems to hover around the 5 hour time for labor...so about $500 +/- sounds "normal". What kit did you get?
i believe their "Package" deal from one of their dealers works out to about $500 for the install as previously quoted. i do know there is one company (the name escapes me at the moment) that doesn't require shaving anything. the proper way to have them installed correctly is to actually remove the front fenders during the install. i looked into lambo doors about 2 years ago, but even with buying the hinges from someone here at a deep discount to original "retail" cost, the one guy in my area i trust to do the work confirmed the approx $5-$600 install cost. i decided i could live with the stock setup.
I know it is your car and I have always said do what you like, not whayt others say. They are not my cup of tea and I always thought the they belong on Lambo's only.

Exactly. Makes you wonder If there are guys on a Lamborghini forum wondering whether they should install "Vette Doors".

I believe the company with the doors that do not require modding the inner fender is Dream Car Custom.
funny that lambos dont have lambo doors anymore...
i actually though these doors might make it easier for my old, fat a$$ to get in and out of the car...
They make it really difficult to get in and out actually. Limits how much the door can open, that limited width when the door opens and when "up" also obstructs entry, you also you can't use it as leverage anymore. They make it really inconvenient.
Not to mention you still have to open like a traditional door so it's completely form no function. Every time I've had to get into someones car with them I wanted to set it on fire.
I'm also 6'2 so maybe if you're a midget then it wouldn't be as big a problem.
Don't worry about what others say in here about flamboyant doors... if you like them get them... people here do things to their cars I think is stupid but again I did not pay for it so each to their own....
I like the idea of Lamborghini doors as one of the two things I don't like about my C5 is the doors are very long. I have not banged my door on anything yet, but I know it is going to happen to either a curb or something.
Like I said, I like he idea... But I don't know that I would be willing to put up with the hassle of other people's stupid remarks.
'Im now going to enter my Vette', is everyone...watching?
Yah it's your ride. but wait till you try and sell it!

Used lambo kit....Make sure they stand behind these 100% with a good warranty. I've seen several vettes around here and all of them have experienced some sort of issue. Whether it be rubbing, buckled fenders or (the most common) door not staying up due to a bad hinge or shock. The durability of the brand and the installation will be play huge parts. I wish you luck and be sure to post pics.
