Default Stereo button lights

On my 99 vert, it has the head unit that plays tapes, and a 12 disc cd changer in the trunk.

there are the #'s for station presets, and to control the cd player

123
456

At night, I just noticed the 2 and 5 have no light anymore, but all others do.

Probably a bulb out behind the #'s I would guess.

Anyone else had this?

Default Yes, lights out

Yes, two of the bulbs are out. They are soldered onto the circuit board for the front controls. If you are going to replace the bulbs replace them all at the same time.

The replacement lights can be purchased from Mcmaster-Carr. The bulb number is 7219.

Or you can change over to LEDs. See the New Interior LED mod thread http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c5-g...od-thread.html

Would look good with some LEDs in there.

all of mine are out....the unit is old...a '97. It is a tedious job to disassemble even before you repair the bulbs. I opted to simply run a tape player version that allows you to still run cds in the rear. you can buy these for $25 bucks here and there...I have a few if you can't find one. get your bad unit done by one of the guys on the forum...I think he is tstar or something like that.

What if I wanted to just buy a new stereo head unit from the aftermarket like say Sony, Pioneer, etc.

Would it still control the 12 disc changer in the trunk?

New lights would be cool, but I don't know about soldering the bulbs in, of course if I bought a new stereo I would save the factory one for in down the road.
