I have been looking at a pair of Bullets and have been stuck on one issue; are they too loud by law? Have any of you forum-goers ever had any issues with the police stopping you? Should i just learn to push in the clutch when passing by?
DirtySpleen, that is a hard question to answer, BUT, here in Northern California, we aren't coming down on that noise issue yet, unless it's noise and donuts in the middle of the street. The real question is can YOU handle the drone inside the vette. Yea it's all cool the first few days, but on a hill, or long highway at certain RPMs, depending on what gear you're in, your ears will bleed and your brain turns to mush and you become a..............senator... It's real painful, well for me.. I went with FlowMaster 3 stage, when you stomp it roars, but normal driving, is louder than stock but very low drone.. Just don't ask other vette drivers, ask to sit and take a drive... that is the real test...
If you just ask they will say "Yea, sounds cool, man power, etc. etc."... Good luck.
Thanks for the info! I live in PA right next to where they hold the annual Corvettes at Carlisle event and i experienced quite a few Bullets and i have to say i love how they sound. im mainly concerned about the legal side, as they really dont do much muffling! but i guess you are right, as long as i dont draw too much unwanted attention i should be fine!

Long tubes, no cats and bullets here. Love 'em, no issues with the law. The "drone" and "making your ears bleed" comments so many make are over exaggerated. Try them, if you don't like them, then switch to something different. Pretty simple.

If your driving around in town and keep your foot out of it its not to bad. Once you hit to go pedal everyone knows is
As far as drone never hear it as the tunes more than drown out the drone
My car is very LOUD but I have not had any issues with the Law stopping me due to noise... Obviously I am not taking off your getting on the throttle hard around police officers tho

Same set up on mine an i love it. I'm from Pittsburgh and we take the car on long trips a few times a year and we have no problem carrying on a conversation or hearing the radio. I haven't been bothered by the police about it yet but i trying to not be a hoonigan when im out driving.
The bullets were always my fist choice for muffler the borla stingers were 2nd, they have a little more muffler but sound close. I have a set of stingers here im going to be listing for sale.
i figure the day i cant hear a harley drive down the highway is the day I'll quiet my car down. but with minimal mufflers at least the corvette sounds good.

Wondering if you ever venture down into W. Virginia and roll through the interstate tunnels at say, a high rpm? I think they're on I-79 but maybe its I-77. Been a few years since I drove home to Erie. Anyway, been wanting to do that in my Z.
Dirty spleen. I live in Hummlestown and. have B&B Prt's on my 2001 vert . I have no drone no noise problems. The bullets are louder than the prt's. If you want to here what6 they sound like in person let me know and we can meet up some were.
I have the Bullets, everything stock except the exhaust. Love it! However I couldn't stand the "motorboat" sound at idle. A Borla X Pipe took care of that though! Go for it!
My car of 2 months had what appears to be 12" glasspacks with large tips welded right to them, straight out the back. Looks like something a good muffler guy whipped up.
Not only did I absolutely hate mine but my homeowners association filed an injunction to make me quiet the car down. A 20 min trip to work would make my ears ring. I traded them even for a set of Z06 ti's and couldn't be happier. My 72 C3 with a 454 and open sidepipes are not as loud and obnoxious as these things. Right at 1500 rpms they would drone so loud you couldn't hear yourself think.
The problem is everyone has a different level of what sounds good to them, this is a topic not to compare with others, but to just share experiences to help the ones looking for a new exhaust pick one that will fill their needs. What is music to one's ears, is noise to another. I've driven in many different vettes to get the best setup that fits my needs. The vette has issues with exhaust and tire noise because the trunk is also part of the cockpit. After market insulations helps but adds weight. Don't get me wrong I love the roar of a great sounding muscle car, I just want it on the outside.. I go to Sears and watch the Pro-Stock, love that sound, nitro burning in the eyes, yea.. but just not bringing it home with me.. Enjoy the ride...
PS if you think this is loud, go to a Harley Ride like Hot August Nights in Reno, my hotel was next to the parking garage and we couldn't sleep because all the Harley riders were reving up their bikes in the garage, OMG so much noise...
