I've been thinking about buying one of those amplified sub boxes crutchfield keeps sending me emails for. The two I looked into are both under 200 watts and fit fine in the center rear compartment. My question is , will it be worth it ? will I hear it with the top down or is it a waste of money. The two i've looked into are the infinity basslink and the sound ordance.
You will definitely hear it with the top down. You might even ask yourself why you took so long to add one. Crutchfield is a bit pricey, but their customer support is great.
Crutchfield? I looked at the website, very limited in products for the C5, and very pricey. If you want actual customer service and MANY products that fit your car call Dennis. http://doubledmods.com/ is the only place to get your stuff and question answered.

Real big difference mine came with an Alpine 10" built in where the spare goes along with a 1000 watt amp and at 60mph the sound sytem is clear and loud . Well worth it if you like the tunes . Ron
Amp and sub are must haves for the vert. Another optioin is to go with a low porfile 4 channel amp and low profile powered sub. Both of mine fit in the center storage panel after took out the unused cd changer. Music is loud and clear and the sub adds that deep sound that is missing normally. Best of all, it is all hidden. Here is a pic of my trunk.

The low frequencies that the subwoofer creates are the type that's more likely to be felt than heard even with the top down on the highway. Wind noise is most likely to disrupt higher/middle frequencies, but you'll still be able to hear/feel the subwoofer clear as day because the lower frequencies have significantly more power behind them.

We Illini guys think alike. I also did a sub and 4 channel amp. All hidden away in center. I can vibrate the trunk lid if I want. Much better, crisper sound and volume. A must have with a vert.
I would be concerned about cooling that amp. having the amp mounted in a confined space WITH the sub could result in heat-dissipation issues pretty quickly.

Got it covered. I installed a relay for a vent fan and got a new cover with a vent grill installed under the carpet.
music sounds sooooooo much fuller/richer/better with bass.
I made a custom sub box for my C4 vert. Only had room for a 8" but it sure made a huge difference to the sound. Lots of options for 10" subs for a C5 vert - go for it!
i have modded c5 vert with full exhaust, i can verly hear my stock radio...i already have way to much into this car but wouldnt mind a modest sound upgrade. any suggestions????
Definitely worth the upgrade! I kept mine stealth so I could still fit my golf clubs/bag in the trunk (priorities) yet enjoy a better sounds than the stock Bose system.
You're limited only by your budget. I am very happy with my new system!

You can spend a ton, but you can also do it rather inexpensive too.
4 channel pioneer amp: $150
Pyle Power low profile sub: $100
Wire/Amp kit: $50
Install yourself or pay a pro 2-3 hr install for about $150
Check out buy.com and ebay for great prices on all the equipment. Again, you can spend $5k and up for a State of the art system, or you can spend under $500 for a 100x better system than stock and you will enjoy it 1000x every time you are in the car, and with the vert.....again it is a must have mod for cruising in the vert.
