It should be sealed in plastic wrap if it's brand new so it's already oiled and ready to go out of the box. If it's new to you/used, who knows if a previous owner maintained it correctly before you got it.
The synthetic Blackwing uses the recharge kit from S&B FILTERS due to the color of the media (also offer red oil kits).
FYI. To get the most out of your Blackwing, you should invest a little time in modifying the radiator shroud. There should be a DIY here on the forum somewhere. The Blackwing doesnt perform any better than any other aftermarket intake without a larger opening for intake air and to expell hot engine air. The Blackwing should be pre-oiled, and also pick up the filter recharge kit fot next season. The Blackwing is a quality piece. No complaints here, buddy.

Personally, I would connect the hose to prevent codes and to make sure the car runs the way it should. Youre car is modified different from mine so I really dont know if plugging up the hole would be the way to go. Im glad the shroud has been opened up. You'll certainly be happy with the results.POST PICS!!

That's for the AIR system. Emissions stuff. If it's a H/C car, it was probably removed and the codes tuned out, so blocking it off is just fine.
DARRYL, you had any issues when relocating the MAF? I'd like to do the same.. just don't want to have to get the car tuned again.
Havent had any problems with the MAF recolation. But then again, if you have a CAI that requires the MAF to be moved next to the throttle body, you shouldnt. I have the VR power duct and some have mentioned that the couldnt get the MAF to fit. Well obviously,it does fit but it will be TIGHT! Also sure that you have a screen in your MAF,unless the tuner made adjustments.
