Start the car, leave engine at idle, all electrical systems in normal operation with radio on....Now go to the trunk and open the floor over the depression where the CD player is..
Find the 'slifing panel' over the casette that carries all the CDs, and slide it open, and allow the casette to eject. Fully remove the casette of CDs, then re-install in the player box, and slide-close the cover, ALL THE WAY closed...if it is open even a tiny bit it wont work right. You should hear the mechanism clunking away inside the player now, as it looks for CDs in each slot.
After this re-boot with the car running, I have found that most of the time it works for me.....but not all the time...sometimes VERY frustrating!!
The two usual causes of problems with it are 1) discs in upside down. 2) putting in the cartridge and not allowing enough time for it to cycle through all of the discs before opening the car door and starting the car. You must wait while it takes care of business otherwise you'll get an error and have to do it again.
