I am getting out of my current POS lemon 2000 coupe.
If I get another Corvette it will be a ZO6. Can you guys tell me about the seats? I would be converting over from the sport seats that I love. Are the Zo6 seats the same as the coupe/convertible base seats they are modeled after? Do they have good lateral support?
I am also wondering if you guys have pictures or links showing the red accent interior. I don't know if I would like it or not and it is tough to judge by the pictures on Chevy's website.
IF I end up buying into a ZO6 in the near future, here are my plans. :D
Black, no side molding, polished or chromed rims, lowered ~ 1", swap my SLPs and Vortex over, 4-pt bar, 5-pt harnesses, tint the rear window, and a CD changer (a must for the LONG trips). Over time I would add the FLP system and either a Procharger or a heads/cam combo with the possibility of getting a cowl hood. I think the car with its snub-roof styling would look pretty wild with a 2" or even a 4" cowl.
But I may just end up taking the money I get back on the coupe and paying off my school loans and getting the RS 100% finished. She still needs a 9", a 6-speed, a D-1 and a nice coat of Torch Red. :chevy
Another quick question - does the ZO6 have a power antenna or is it fixed in place?
I think it would look WORLDS better if GM got rid of the antenna and smoothed it over. So what if they spend an extra $50 putting an aftermarket patch antenna inside the rear window? They still work the same.
It's the base seats with a red Z06 logo stitched to the headrest. Support isn't all that good. I would love to have more lateral support.
Antenna is a fixed mast. Which I think is ugly! For a 51K car, they could have at least integrate it into the rear window like the coupe. Even my 99 Grand Prix GTP has it integrated in the rear window. Oh well.
I just took the antenna off and put a little vacuum cap over the stud that protrudes from the rear. I still get 'ok' reception "most" of the time.
The Z06 seats are differant than the standard seat. Thay have a bit of lateral suport but not enough so the dead petal is a big help. For me the Z06 seat is more comfortable than the sport seats were my 00coupe, especialy on 2hr+ drives. But its all subjective, so slipp you butt in a Z06 I think you will be pleased and suprised!! I like the ATIs myself. Different powerband, yes. But I have experience with them and may be able to get them (p-1 for C5, D-1 for RS) at cost. Though the LPE system is not that bad.
Hmm, stock seats. That bites! I'm actually VERY comfortable with the sport seats. With the seat memory I have 3 settings. One for long rides like 12 hours to the Carolinas. Another for extreme driving. And the third is my average daily setup. I like the side bolsters a lot and would love the ability to slip some harnesses through the holes provided. Too bad they're not on the ZO6.
I bet I could buy the Sport Seat back piece and fabricate something that will work. Of course, that would probably be MORE expensive than having the stock seats modified for a harness and added side bolstering. Maybe there is a decent aftermarket choice. Does'nt Spectre Werks offer modified seats like that?
