Don't ever think for even one moment that you are alone. Been there, done that.

When I installed aluminum guage bezels, I put it all back together with the tach needle on the bottom side of the little pin it rests on so I had to take it all the way apart again. The second time I put it back together I forgot to plug in my HUD and apart it came again. At least I didn't have to take the instrument cluster apart for a third time but it still sucked.

These are normal routine in almost all of my projects... Or amazon prime orders, or Radio Shack, etc...

Get used to it..over the years I've had my dash apart at least 20 times...I have it down to about 5 minutes if the freakin' bezel clears the shift **** immediately, which is rare. I now remove the shift **** AND put the key in to shift it backward....works great, but sometimes there is a hang up somewhere in the setup.

I know what you mean. I recently had my console apart when I changed over to painted pieces and once I got it back together, my cig lighter would not work. Must have taken it back apart 2-3 times checking the connection, etc. until I decided to check the fuse. Lo and behold, that was what it was. Could have saved myself a lot of trouble and time if I had just checked the fuse in the first place.

Same for me.

Installed guage rings. Got her all back together, HUD did not work.

Worked MUCH better after I plugged in all the harnesses.

what REALLY sucks are new threads with vague subject headings so you're forced to click on them to figure out wtf they're about.

I am taking mine back out this week. For some reason BEFORE I took it out, the ashtray cover was just fine. Now the actual lid to the ashtray holds the lighter/ashtray cover open. I have no idea why.

Been there done that!! Mine ALMOST created a major problem!Had just done the dim HVAC display fix, was busy afterward,,and ran my gas WAY lower than I usually do,,got to the station and No gas door!! being new to the car,,hadn't found the emergency release cable in the FRC. Had to get home,,pull it apart AGAIN,,,get the button plugged in,,and get back to the station!! I DID learn from it though. About a year later got a new Stereo installed,,MENTIONED it to the installer,BUT checked it before I left. Good thing I did,,,he FORGOT to reconnect the button wire too:toe tap:!! This time HE had to dig into the console instead of me!! All part of the learning curve!!
