Plasti Dip Clear as a clear bra???
Saw on their website that they have a clear coat which has the same characteristics of the original stuff. One of the uses they had listed was as a clear bra. Now I know this won't stop rock chips but it would be an effective protection against bugs and other crap.
My front plate filler is pretty beat up and I was going to get it replaced. Might have to use the old one as a test and see how this works.

It may work just fine, but I think I would rather have something like a GM bra to help protect the front end.
But if you do try this, please post up your results. Could be a cheap way to protect the car. Would be interested in how well it holds up over time.

Another option is to spray the front nose, hood, etc with spran on vegetable spray (pam) or apply a light coat of pertoleum jelly.
I've used both for years with no adverse affects. Washes off with soapy water. I don't leave home without a good coat on my motorhome.
In Florida we have "love bugs" that will erode paint and are impossible to get off once they dry.

I'm going to try it on the center plate filler piece. Mine is pretty beat up and I'm replacing it with a new one any way so if it doesn't work or looks like crap no big deal.
If it goes on and comes off as easy as they show in the videos I watched then this may be a way to prevent paint damage from bugs and other road crap.

We just traded our old mini van for a new SUV and the minivan had stains in the clear coat from the first year we moved to Florida because I didn't clean off the bug guts soon enough.

If this works as well as I think it may, I might try it on other things like the wheels. Since it's clear it will let the original finish show but give it an added layer of protection.

well, if the clear "glossifier" holds up like the flat black does... it should be ok... just be sure to put 4-5 coats on it.. you want the layers to be thick enough to peel off when you're done with it.

This stuff is not that durable. Once you start scrubbing to get the bugs off plan on the layer to come with it. Really this stuff is not a good solution to protecting the paint... unless you want a one time and peel it off solution.

Any problems with the Pam or Vasoline baking in the sun? I also live in Florida and although my C5 is usually on vacation in the garage during the spring Lovebug swarm, my daily driver takes a beating.
