Default Dex-Cool

Greetings all,
I'm new here and just purchased a bone stock 2002 Z06 four weeks ago. I'm getting ready to swap out the coolant while changing the thermostat to a 160 degree's. The coolant is the original Dex-Cool from the factory and has not been compromised. The engine only has 42,000 miles. Is everybody replaciing the Dex-Cool with more Dex-Cool or are you all replacing it with the conventional green/yellow stuff? (Naturally I would have to do a flush and fill if switching over) What is the recommended choice here?

And if you're switching to a lower temp thermostat then you really should have the radiator fan temp settings lowered too.

Thanks for the advice, already have an electric fan controller in mind. Just don't know if I should use the push-in or the thread-in type.

On my last Z I drained the radiator, then flushed the radiator a few times using the garden hose. Then ran the car around the block to mix the water with the remaining Dex Cool to get the rest of the old Dex out. I did the flush and drive routine a couple of times. Then I added demineralized water and Dex to the Z to make 50-50 mix. Getting ready to do my current Z in the near future.

Not sure that's a good idea. Others will probably speak up, but with these cars it's best to get a tuner to adjust the fan settings in the computer.

Correct. I was just going to use it temporally until all my mods were done before taking it to a tuner shop, but maybe I'll just leave it parked until it's ready to be tuned. Thanks again.

So in the meantime you're going to hack your harness? No way man, just hold off until you take it to a tuner.
