So after talking to my dad until I was blue in the face telling him to buy Michelin tires for his C5 he has decided to order a set of Uniroyal tires because he thinks it's good to pay the cheapest price for something. I had Michelins on my C5 before I sold it and he rode and drove the car and loved them. However they are more expensive. I also have Michelins on my C6 Z06 and rave about them as well.
Long story short does anyone have any experience with these tires on a C5? I'm afraid that he is going to get them and be completely unhappy and his only son (me) will have to listen to the non stop complaining until he wears them out. Help Please... I did a search and only came up with two posts with any relevance. Thanks in advance!!!

Well, after having them on my Chevy trucks back in the 80's, there's NO WAY I'd ever give them a chance on something else. Ride like CRAP, LOUD, and dry rot almost while you wait.
I'm looking on the Uniroyal website, and I can't even find ANY Uniroyal tire wider than 265mm. I can't find any sizes that look like they'd work on a C5? What sizes did he get? Did he get outlined white letters on the sidewalls too?

They do not manufacture a tire for the C5 so disregard my previous post about them being fine.

I think I might have pee'd my pants a little when reading this one!!! Oh don't worry I'll post up his reviews once he tells me the truth. I have been blasting him all day about this POOR decision... Instead of spending $1100 the first time and getting a good tire I guess he'll end up paying $1100 + a set of Uniroyals with white raised lettering...
We're sorry, Uniroyal does not currently manufacture tires fitting this vehicle's specifications.

Unfortunately they do... They are not run flats but the Tiger Paw GTZ comes in standard C5 sizes... I'm sure since they are GTZ tires they are awesome...
Like you I always purchase Michelin tires for all my cars.
But.........
I just installed a new set of 245/50/17 Uniwobble Tiger Paws on my DD, a Cadillac CTS.
I put way to many Kms on this car to justify buying a third set of Michelins for this car.
I bought them on the condition if I didn't like them the dealer would take them back.
After 1,000kms I have no issues with them and would purchase them again.
Would I put them on a Vette? Probably not.

If he is trying to save some money, have him look at the Hankook Ventus V12 EVO tires. They have gotten very good reviews here on the forum, cost much less than the Michelins and ride/handle well. I currently have them on my '03 and like them a lot.
I once had Uniroyal Tiger Paws on a `94 GMC Sonoma. They were fine for that purpose, but that truck only had 180-185HP. I would NOT put Uniroyal tires on any kind of performance vehicle. I have put cheap tires on my Z28, but they were atleast designed with a little bit of performance in mind. I have to have a quality tire, with a great looking tread pattern. I currently have the BFG KDW's on my car, and I love them. Great looking tread pattern, decent traction, and long tread life. They are a good bit cheaper than Michelin tires, but I have never had a complaint with BFG. I' ve lost count of how many sets of tires I' ve put on my car (after 158k miles), I believe something like 6-7 different brands/models of tires. Two of those sets were BFG, and I will put BFG on anything else I ever own without a second thought. I wish your dad the best of luck with those tires, I just hope they don' t compromise his, or the car' s safety!
It's true that Michelin owns Uniroyal. I used to work at a Michelin tire plant and we actually made Uniroyal tires on the same machines that make the Michelin tires...it's all in the design and materials. With that said, I still am a firm believer in "you get what you pay for"...

Uniroyal is owned by Michelin and they in fact have a performance tire. The Tiger Paw series. They come with a W speed rating
I had uniroyals on a Monte Carlo once and they were some of the best tires I ever had. At one time they came out stock on many GM cars.
But I've never seen them on a vette that I can remember.
??? When I sold Goodyear tires our cheapest crudy tire was called Tigerpaw. Would last about 12K miles. But for someone that needed tread it was good. We sold a ton of those. Not the same I know however, Tigerpaw name will always mean cheap to me.

Yup, a very good tire if you don't want to spend for Michelin Pilot Sport A/S or the ultimate for the money imo is the Michelin Pilot Super Sports. F1 or Corsa are out of my league. I'd love to try those tires. I own both Michelin tires and have tried the Hankooks with good luck. I love the Michelins enough to pay the extra $400-500 a set to ride on those. I tired the Hankook and liked them for sound, stickiness and looks. The price is very good. They are not quite as responsive as the Michelin Pilot Super Sports but, for the cost..... I'd ride on them if ultimate performance wasn't a requirement. They are a nice touring / daily driver tire.

If you simply look at the inside of a Michelin tire vs all others you will see the difference. Take a look... hard to explain the smooth and stronger looking / secret process they get.

Well that's what I thought at first as well, but then I punched in my 99 and it came back with that message.
I personally would not put them on a vette but they do make some decent tires for sedans for not too much money. I've always been a fan of Michelins myself, for any car.
