I purchased a C5 this past January. The previous owner swapped out his 200MPH speedometer for a 300 MPH Speedo. With that being said, the odometer reset to zero in the process. The car has a documented 61k miles on it (Carfax, Owners Log, etc...) is there any way to advance the readings besides driving across the Country five times ? (Currently 14k)

Thanks !
Never understood why people add a 300mph speed-silly. The dealer can make the odometer correct.

A dealer can help you but I don't know it is worth t expense. Even if you make it correct you still would need to provide a document saying the mileage was altered if/when the car was sold or registered (as a matter of fact you should have gotten one when you bought the car),
Went through the same thing when I installed a custom cluster that was built on a NOS part. Talked with a local speedometer guy and he wanted $150 to set it to current mileage (cluster had to be out of car). But IIRC he told me that over 10 years old (federal regs) it was not necessary to reset if you provided a statement or document detailing the "repair". FWIW.
You can remove the needle by prying up on it using even pressure on all sides - try using a fork. Before you remove it, gently lift the needle over the stop at 0 mph and note the 'at rest' position, usually around -10 mph, and reinstall in the same orientation.
def worth the money to get it corrected. technically it will become a TMU (True Miles Unknowen) car without setting it correctly. and that is not good for resale value... I would get it set correctly and forget that the cluster was ever swapped when its time to sell/trade it
