I say break out the chopsticks for that one, but if he likes it thats all that matters.
First of all calling a vette "Rice" is just wrong.
What if you took a 2001 vert and changed all the necessary parts (intake, exhaust, wheels etc.) with oem Z06 part? Would that be rice? Or would it be a vert Z06?
How about if you took an aftermarket product that was made in Japan (Wheels, Stereo, radar detector etc.) and installed it into a Vette, would that be rice? or mod?
I don't see a problem with it. its all about owner preference for modifications.
I was at first going to say that it's blaspheme. But maybe it's a compliment. Plus,it's pretty cost effective. I could not do it because I'm in a club. My credability would be gone. If you aren't in a club no one will know.
the only reason i can see changing the enblems is if you had custom ones made with the actual hp from a dyno. like 450hp emblems., then it would be cool to change them

NO! It would be a (potentially) fast convertible, but that alone doesn't make it a Z06! Turning a production Z06 into a convertible is a different story, of course. :D
As far as the emblems are concerned, of course the owner can do what he wants. As has been mentioned so many times already, its his car, after all.
But an opinion was requested and in that regard, I believe the majority stated that they would not recommend doing this. Its not just the HP rating. Its like putting a ZR-1 or Grand Sport emblem on a regular production Corvette. Many consider it a slap in the face (albeit a small one) to those that own those cars. Either way, I won't lose any sleep over it.

You are forgetting the original... the 1963 Z06. They built 199 of 'em at an option cost of $1,818 each. Quite a lot when you consider a base coupe stickered at $4,257. ;)
IMHO first thing, it's your car. Nothing ricey about a Z06 part on a Z06.
Actually, I think I would rather have the emblem with no HP numbers on it. With no numbers, an inquiring mind wouldn't know if you had 385 hp or 585 hp... heh, heh...
