sorry that a f-body'er term but the plates are the same thing. they are just the plasic black sail shaped plated just abovewhere your side mirrior meets the door.
I have a Pewter car, and also looking to have some black detail on it too....
just got some black and crome wheels, but also thought about black mirrors, and also like to do the bit round the exhausts as well
make sure you post up some pic' s when you do each bit!!
I think the mirrors would look better left body color.
I remember when GM and other car companies would use universal, black plastic mirrors on the lower end models and it was only when you upgraded to the premium models that body-color mirrors were included. I guess that's why I think black mirrors on non-black cars look cheap.
One exception IMO that looks great are the carbon fiber mirrors on black C5s. There is a forum member who added them to his CF roof and CF side skirts/spoiler/splitter. Looked great.

In my opinion there is no way I could paint my halo black, Let alone the mirrors, To me the pewter looks great as is and the black takes away from the nice lines of the car, I also think when I see a Vette with a painted halo "Mitsubishi". But I don't have to drive it now do I? Just something I opt not to do. Mr.Bill
You could have done all of the above in matte black wrap. Nothing permanent. If you decide you don't like it or get tired of it in 6 months, just peel it off.

That or Plasti-dip. It's cheaper than a wrap ($5/can) and 100% reversible.
Actually, if I were you I would do it with Plasti-dip first for less than $20 just to see if I liked it...if you like it you can spend more money to have it professionally done if you choose.
