Theres the winner right there.
I roll about 140,000 miles a year (and Don't run a CB thank you. ) but can say I see very few vette guys acting the fool with their cars and I spot them right off the bat.
No body loves speed any more than I do but I lock in no more than 7 over and never have a problem. I do roll a little harder with the big truck than the car but 37 years OTR and keeping it under 10 mph over the posted I"ve made Yuma AZ to Norfolk Va. in 43 hours 15 minuets so that speed is not needed to make time. Keeping that left door shut is the key.
Stopped running Calif 2.5 years ago but friends have told me CHP has really stepped up the speed thing out there.
Carolina still uses mostly the old style radar but now they sit on the on ramps and pop you in the back when you go by. Like the others have said, its to late to jam the brakes when you get it in the rear.
Grandfather was a ham and got me into playing with radar. Even with the old style X,K, if your the number one target and it has a switch on it your dead in the water if the officer has half a brain and has used the unit for just a little while. I still have two and one between the seat of the dodge pickup. I've had more fun with that thing and I think its standard for the 4 banger cars to have a radar detector before they have a motor so when those kids use others cars as their own personal race track they become my enjoyment for a little while at least.
I get to watch all the crazys from the balcony view and the crap I see out there every day sorry guys, I support LEO 100% if you feel you need to roll 10 to 15 mph+ over when there is others around you.
On a race track you have a general Idea what the guy beside you is thinking.. On that HWY, you don't have a clue. When LEO is present, they don't get to see the crap I see and its a zoo out there at some of the moves people make thinking its safe.

Drive safe, and with traffic, don't the the leader and don't be an idiot.< Got my vote anyway.

Nobody ever beleives this, but for me, I would say maybe 9 out of 10 stops end in a warning. I don't write speed unless i have seen you before, 15 over, or the weather is bad. I really just want the drugs/drunks that you find on traffic stops.
If only most or all officers do as you try to do, we'd all have nothing to complain about. If I got a ticket for something stupid I did wrong, I'd be happy to chaulk it up to a lesson learned and leave it at that. I suppose my largest complaint is seeing any LEO, out openly violating the same traffic laws that they are enforcing the rest of us on. Here in this town I live in now, the Police are honest people and I'm cool with them. I did the Citizen's Police Academy and met everyone from the Chief on down. All good law enforcement and no one there cheats in any way. Many other agencies could learn from these guys and I'm proud to say there are some good ones out there. Just wish it was "all".

In our town they are all about revenue. I was sited a ticket for 7 over just outside our subbdivision. There is a way around this speed trap however. My aunt has a son who is a Leo in Ohio (we are located in Missouri). When she was caught in the same speed trap she simply informed the officer that her son is a cop in Ohio. The officer requested her son make a phone call to him and the ticket vanished. How is that honest or fair. I had to pay an attorney $200. I also see our Mayor visting every watering hole in town on the weekends and frequntley during the week. I dont imagine he is drinking kool aid in there. Some how I never see or hear of him getting pulled over in fact I have heard of him getting an escort home from one of these establishments. I feel Jammers or detectors or any other devices make it fair for us who do not have a direct link to an officer that can get us out of a ticket or hold a position which puts us above the law. I find my mistake of not noticing my speed is far less dangerous than a public official deliberatley ignoring the laws and putting other families at risk with is 5000 lb bullet. No need for a one of these devices if you have a some good connections.

I don't stop cars for anything less than 15 over unless there is some other violation to go with the speed. Most of the time 15 mph+ violators get either a written warning or dropped to 9 over. All depends on attitude and driving history....

Running above the limit without other traffic that is also being "shot" out ahead of you with any detection devices, you are in trouble.

Running alone, get your license and registration out.

My V1 gives me incredible highway warnings,,,longest to date 7 miles, but that was because the LEO was shooting at other cars way ahead of me only fairly flat terrain. The V1 is great protection be nothing is perfect!

Their is nothing you can do beside getting a jammer. Just as stated by our fellow Vette drivers, a jammer is your best bet. When caught be ready to pay a huge big fat fine. If you know theirs cops in the area your heading to just follow the speed limit if you don't want to get caught.

The "L" designation on the V1 display panel just means "Laser". The circuitry inside is tuned to detect the 904nm wavelength laser pulses that LEO laser guns in the U.S. use.
