I've seen a number of post over the couple of years I have been visiting here asking things like what color should I get, which interior, and so on.
I know what I like without the need of anyones help. My mother stopped buying my clothes over 40 years ago. It has become a sad world when one cannot think for themselves any more.
Maybe it is just me.
I see a lot of that too. I am guessing people like to have popularity on their side before making a big decission (or even a small decission  ). I think people should do their homework and make the best decission on what they find out and WANT themselves.
I think it really is about sharing the excitement. When you are getting ready to buy or order the car, you'll talk to just about anyone about it. It's fun. Also, there are legitimate reasons for asking. What if one color is known to fade a lot, or show scratches, or is hard to color match in the case of an accident? What if one interior choice shows wear much more than the others? For some people, there aren't even enough vettes in the area for them to preview the color combinations they want, so they have to ask others who have seen it for real world opinions. I wouldn't say it's just an attempt to go with what's popular, but a desire to get feedback, and real information from others who may have more knowledge. Besides, it's just fun to see what people say. Of course I never asked. I knew I wanted electron blue from the moment I heard about it. :)
Yep,it's just sharing with ones who care. When we say stuff,it's to be a part of the scene. I actually agonized over Quicksilver,Elevtron Blue,Black,or Red for a whole day to be honest. :seeya
Believe it or not, some people don't really know for sure what they want. It has nothing to do with not wanting to make a decision. I've pondered that myself about Blue and Yellow, and even Silver and I have a hard time deciding which one. I like the mod red interior but the two exterior colors I like, I feel don't go to well with that interior. The next best color is Silver and goes really well with the mod red interior, but my current Vette IS silver and I don't want another silver one! So when you've narrowed down the choices and you're on the fence you have a tendency to poll others and go by that because then you'll know the majority likes that color the best.
I've reacted negatively to those kinds of posts, too. In thinking about it, however, I'd have to agree that it's simply people wanting to share their enthusiasm. A guy that's decided to get a Corvette, but doesn't yet have one, doesn't have to a lot to post about and is looking for a way to get connected with other 'vette people. Also, while a color choice seems trivial, it's a decision you have to live with for a while, and to get a sense of the pros and cons of various colors makes some sense, I suppose.
Judging by the responses that those threads always get, I've wondered why people don't just ask "What color car do you have". The same responses would be garnered either way.
Hey, and men are not the only ones. Women want the styles that other women want. Seen those high water,"flood",pants? Yuk Yuk. But they gotta have them. Actually,we are lucky to be making a choice like this. Ask a teenage kid which Vette color he hates. None.
I really want TR, but if you guys think I should get EB... :)
I always know exactly what I want. I would bug me not to know. I have often wondered the same thing about people who ask what they should do. It would be cruel to talk someone out of a color they thought they wanted just because you could... :D

Exactly. Same thing can be said with shifters, and exhausts.
