Default Fender Flare Installation

I was just quoted $1800 for installation of fender flares which includes the body work and paint. Seems a little pricey to me, what do you guys think?

I paid 450.00 for painting and putting them on with all the body work was very little with the L5 rear fenders. Guy I did forget here I also had my paint from the painter doing a tiger shark front bumper and the same rear bumper work on my car.... Robert

Out of the three the L5 will need the most work, but it still should not cost $1800 with all the prep and paint plus install!

I'm not going to waste my time replying to certain people but yea shop around. I think just being in NY makes it a bit more difficult as I'm sure they'll charge more. CA is usually pretty pricey too depending on the shop, but to give you an idea another customer that just installed his paid $1400 and that included blending the doors. As for the L5's I know a guy that spent $2500 to install and paint his, they are far from perfect. Also just had another customer return his L5's to get my carbon fenders, I seen his fenders personally and they were horrible (maybe not the norm) but they were bad

I have the carbon fiber front lip, rear spoiler and side skirts from QuikZ06 and all my parts fit just fine!

here are a couple of pics of my L5's when they arrived

see the seams on the front edge and the top...i am not bashing the L5 fenders but they where a little rough and do need some real attention before they are ready for paint.

side note (i would have bought the QuikZ06 fender flairs but they where not available for the C5 convertibles at that time)

QuikZ06 are about 1/4" wider than L5's and TPE. They do require some work, and I am not a body work man so don't follow my advice too much on them, but I have done all of the prep-work on mine. I will post a thread with the "build" on mine hopefully by next week.

Thanks, I was thinking maybe a little over a grand. I am gonna shop around and see what the other shops say and I figure it might be a bit pricier in the NY area. Do I need anything else with these? I am mostly wondering about the inner fender wall?

Thanks, maybe I can do some of the prep work and get the bill down a little. I look forward to your thread. I am going to be running larger wheels in the back, 345's. Think that will sit flush?

Thank you for the input. I figured I would be paying around this or possibly a little more.

You shouldn't need anything else, unless you want to make some type of extension for the fender liner. I think a few guy's are just running without it. You should probably cut the lip off in the inside to prevent the tire from hitting that, but that a simple dremel can fix. Im sure you have seen the thread already but if not, here is a customer of mine

Cost me $900 for L5's to be fitted, sanded, prep, and paint. If a regular body shop uses the insurance book guidelines for repair and paint they show too much RR and too much on paint and I was quoted like you around $1800 from two shops that did very little custom work.

Man sorry about the crap you got from them. I have never say anything that bad from a vendor. I got mine from them and were very nice not much work at all. But did think was pricey and also a little thin on the glass but from what I have seen from other two places it the same. I did just put on the car L5 splash guards and one of them was bad and susan mailed me out a new one and also a set of screws to bolt them on. She was very nice and did ever thing she said. I can believe she didnt take them back and give $$ back are replace them for you..Again I am only talking from my dealings from both places here are really all three places...Robert

I never contacted L5 about them because I expected them to be a little ruff based on all the threads posted about them, and I have a good body man that knocked them out like it was nothing so it turned out all good for me...oh yeah, I had my whole car painted so i really cant tell you what it would have cost me, but i do know I would have paid less then $1000...

Just an FYI, I got a PM from another customer of mine with these and he said he's looking at about $950 for prep, paint and blending. Just figured I would let you know so you at least have something to go off up besides what everyone else has mentioned.
