I don't know why you couldn't place some kind of film on the outside of the glass. I've seen some use some of the carbon fiber wrap stuff to redo the outside.
Have you any experience with the painted glass tops? I'm curious to how well the paint holds up. We have a tinted top but would like to get the solid top....but it's extremely hard to find one in MSG.
I had my top sanded and re-clearcoated at a local body shop for $200.00. It was hazed real bad before. It looks brand new now.
I have to admit though, this body shop has done of few C5 tops before. He said you have to be careful not to sand into the top itself, you just want to take the clear off. He also uses a harder clear than one would use on car finishes.
If the top is cracked, there is no fix for that.

thanks in advance.

i bought my vette last year and it came with a painted lexan top. it would be my guess that the original owner who bought the car in arkansas decided it was too hot with the clear top. as far as how it holds up, the guy i bought it from had it nine years and it still looks great. it looks better than the rest of the car. i don't know how much it would cost but it can't be that much.
