2004 Vett picked up a nail in center of tire. Took to recomended shop for fix and they put the first dings on wheels. Looks like the balancer hook up marred the clearcoat completely thru. Any suggestions on a fix? What did the factory use for a clearcoat? Hate it when someone else screwes my things up.

Have the shop pay for getting the wheel refinished. And I am assuming you mean you have the high polished wheels, not chrome. The high polished ones have a clear coat finish on them - chrome does not.
Good luck trying to get the shop to replace the wheel. As a last resort Dupli-Color now makes a clear-coat finish for wheels in a Spray Can. Spray some into the cap and use the back of a match to fill the area that is worn out or use a very small paint brush.
Thanks for the replys. Yes I have the polished wheels, wasn't thinking straight when I typed this. Putting insurance on Tuesday and first thing is the repair shop to see what they will do. Why is everything always a hassel.
Get used to it, it seems EVERY time I take the Vette into the shop have some issues eg. last time had it in for a oil change they parked it in 6" of water out back...damn near had to swim out to the car. Well if I tell you I went balastic...you believe it!! Guess some lot lizzard thought it was funny...so funny he's lookin for a new job I'm betting. Greetings, Rob
Update on wheel. Went to shop this morning early, of course owner denies anything I mention. His help would never do anything like that. Wish there was someway I could repay him for his attitude without getting sued. Ideas?

Put a review on Yelp and any other Review Web Site. Make sure you have the business name and address and the owners full name. Make reference to ALL of the above including his full name.
Then call him to read your review on the sites that you make your experiences known. Tell him to call you when he has a change of heart if he wants you to remove your reviews.
It will be cheaper for him to replace your wheel than it will be for him to loose one customer wishing to buy 4 wheels from him after reading your reviews.
