Well after much reading and trying to decide how to go about adding some horsepower to my car, I contacted Englandgreen and went down and put my deposit down this week to get the parts coming.
I ended up going with a LS6 intake ugrade, American racing long tubes with cats, and their Whiplash 2 cam package, It came with all the goodies to really wake up the LS1. I was really impressed with their shop and after seeing some of the cars they had there, I can't wait to bring mine in this coming week, I already have the B&B PRT and a vararam PT with Blackwing so hopefully all of this will make for a really nice start to getting some good usable power out of my car. I have pretty much decided to go ahead and have the clutch done shortly after they finish the install and tuning.
From the things I have read about Englandgreen my car is in very good hands. It is going to be a very long couple of weeks.
I will post my before and after dyno numbers when I get her back
So..you squeezed the trigger and fired off your first round of power upgrades. That additional power (50 - 70 additional rwhp and ft/lbs of torque) will really be noticeable if you have a 3:42 (or greater) gear set.
But be forewarned: you will be immune to further power mods only for a little while.
You will be bitten again.
Next will be heads. Followed by a blower. Followed by a forged crank, rods and pistons and stouter transmission/differential (so you can safely increase the blower's boost without grenading your engine). Only after you get all of that done will you be walking in truly big power territory.
So, grasshopper, enjoy the journey of a thousand miles (and many, many thousands of dollars). You have taken the first step.
Yeah, I have definitly felt my wallet thin out, It's not a cheap hobby to get involved in that's for sure, So I am going to have to pace myself. I figure after this first round of mods and the clutch, I am going to enjoy the car for a little while. I do not race the car. I know I could have saved some money on some of the mods by maybe buying used stuff, But I did not want to take any short cuts, I have went down that road before and it always ends up costing me more in the long run. I want to do everything just once (hopefully).
yeah it is a 6 speed with 3.42
