I have been reading up on the magnesium wheels. I found a set for sale to replace my cracked thin spokes but one has the normal chipped finish. Most threads on painting turns into a powerdercoat debate. To paint these, I am guess, normal wetsand smooth, prime, spray, clearcoat, hope the install doesnt destroy the finish?
Does look good on a bright colored car,,probably better than the original color would look! Does seem a bit of a shame to cover the distinctive color of the originals, but then again that color is more compatible with darker colors like blues black reds and so on! Post pics when you're done!!
question answered, those look great. love the red accent. did you paint them with the tires installed?
Yes! Wash down wheel & tire good w/soap n water.
After good n dry, lay down news paper, place wheel/tire on paper,
tape off tire and lug nut holes....
Take clean, lent free cloth and wipe down wheel with Mineral Spirits, to remove any oils or wax...allow to dry good.
Paint wheel with three good/fast coats of "Plasti-Dip"!!!
Do Not Let Dry, between coats!!!
Then peel tape off ASAP!!!
