Count me as another victim of bad Chevy delivery/sales. I've had the tires off when I changed the rotors and a few other times on my 2003 C5 50th Ann and never noticed the nylon tab that sits on the backside of each shock. To think those spacers have been in there for the 24k that I've owned the car and the other 107K that 2 other owners had it, omg!! Took 30 min to remove and the car now drives 200% better. I've got some pictures I'll post later.

I agree.
Check for fluid on the shocks under the boot.
Mine had about 24k before I removed them and the stuffers were very clean.
GM installed these on all four shocks.

I just bought a 50th Anniversary convertible in December, had 13,356 miles when I drove it off the lot. I drove it about 3 weeks with it beating me up and my wife complaining about how bad it rode when she was with me Stumbled across this thread trying to learn more about the F55 suspension. Jacked up the car and sure enough, all 4 stoppers were still in! Car rides great now. The car had been a one owner car that they traded in on a VW, poor dude never figured it out.

Bump stops that were in the car for almost 14,000 miles! LOL

I think there may still be hundreds of 03-04 C5s that still have the stuffers in them.

Wouldn’t be surprised, I would still be riding around with them if I hadn’t found this thread. Even on the freeway every time you went over a little dip or something it would feel like it was bottoming out. My ‘90 Z51 coupe ride a little stiff but even after I lowered it it still rode nicer than the new car did until I pulled the stoppers out. Way happy now!!

Probably not just 03s. What a horror show for the owners. Should be some sort of recourse.
