What high performance exhaust system do you run, is it a complete package, headers, h-pipe ever the axle and mufflers or is it components like a h-pipe and mufflers. What brand if any cold air kit do you also run and did you have a custom tuneup and have it dynoed, if so how much hp did the different parts make?
I have selfish reasons for wanting to know. I have a 20,000 mile always garaged black C5, never hit, automatic with a 3:15 rear gear. I would like to bring it up to around 415 flywheel hp and make suspension improvements or trade up to a low mile 03 or under Z06?
I am not familar with the Halteck manifold did you have your car dynoed before and after the manifold and exhaust to see what kind of hp they produced. Could you feel it in the seat of the pants dyno?
Going to take intake, headers and full exhaust and a tune to get anywhere close.Probably going to need a little extra cam as well. Muffler choice is VERY subjective as it depends on what you like and how loud you can tolerate Many header guys like Corsa (touring or pace car) as it keeps things tolerable with the headers while still having some sound to enjoy!!

My advice, don't piecemeal it....do everything at the same time. You will save time, money, irritation from codes, etc. Headers, CAI, tune, X pipe, and Corsa pace car exhaust...forget any other catback system! Flame suit on....
I ran two different cutbacks on my boosted setup with AR Headers, no drone Corsa Pace Cars and Stainless Works that droned, but sounded better outside the car and were a 3" system, I gained 8hp and sold the Pace Cars. If I drove daily or max power was not the object, Pace Cars would be my choice

i'm running lg super pro longtubes without cats, corsa xtreme's, and a vararam on my 02 z... with a tune it put down 391/379 to the ground... the corsa'a are pretty quiet while cruising but are LOUD under wot... they are basically straight pipes with the mufflers cancelling out drone, which they do very well because i have no drone whatsoever at any rpm or in any gear... i like them but if you aren't looking to make some noise then i would stay away from them if you plan on doing headers and removing your cats... they weren't near as loud when i was on stock manifolds/cats
I was just reading about the Halltech intake , I am a sucker for ads. It says 30 hp and installs in fifteen minutes. I was hoping a good exhaust system, cai, throttle body port job, and tuneup would put me to the equilivate of 425 hp or close , flywheel hp? I am allowing 25 hp for headers and exhaust, 8 hp throttle body porting ( my truck dynoed at this and 14 on the cai ) 14 cai hp, and 32 hp on the tuneup for 80 +or-. Am I bad off and has anyone else had any experience?
My tuner grinds his own cams or you can use whatever you want but the cost is $2,500.00 for the change plus other valve train components.
Garrell, my "Blackie" has the mods you are looking for. Check my garage for more info and pictures. Don't hesitate to send a message if you want more specific info.
I believe it's a B&B Tri-flow exhaust, though I'm not certain. I do know that there's American Racing Headers and hi-flow cats in there too. With all of that she puts down 706rwhp and 627rwtq.
Thinking of swapping the B&B's out for the C5z Ti exhaust with the bypass mod, and ditch the cats.

No, did not have dynoed. I don't think that it would be a kick for the two.
I have lg super pro headers with catless x pipe going to Z06 ti mufflers, I used to have SLP Loudmouth exhaust but they were a little loud and droned and I was worried about getting pulled over as it is my DD so I changed to the Ti's. Here is what she sounds like now inside the car, not too loud when just cruising but she wakes up when you get down on her.

Garrell, I'm trying to decipher your post: do you want a ZO6 or 415 horsepower black coupe? Do you want to drag race? Hone your driving skills on a road course or have bragging rights -- with several pulls that give an approximate horsepower reading?
Since your car is always garaged, is low mileage and have "selfish reasons" I would say leave it in pristine shape and trade up to the car with the horsepower and status of a ZO6.
Lots of info to evaluate. I don't want a bad drone but loud I don't mind. Any estimates on the hp I would gain with stock exhaust manifolds with a h-pipe and an over axle with say the Corsa extremes or equal. I already have in the shop a Volant with duel cone cleaners cai and I would still port the throttle body, thats pretty cheap hp, and do the tuneup. I don't know how prices on this type of work is in different parts of the country but good long tube headers installed will probably cost $1200.00 versus around $850.00 for the Halltech intake installed. The intake claims 33 hp and the headers would be what 15? Still listening plus it is interesting to find out what everyone uses and does to produce power.
Part two of the thread: Do you use the horsepower, track events, dragracing, road racing, autocross or any other?

Okay, I like it all .... including driving the speed limit and getting the best mpg possible.
I can only suggest what works for me. My '97 has given me so much fun for the last eight years and "I think" it is fast with a dyno of 325 hp & 325 tq. As far as exhaust goes I recommend the long-tubes with the Corsa X pipe with normal driving there is no drone, but with WOT it sounds great; loud IMHO.
This was my first modification and no tune was needed. Hope this helps with your goal.
