I purchased the bullets last summer from the forum i love the sound however ive been making more highway trips with the car and the drone is starting to become to annoying. I know i could get another exhaust to help but would getting an X pipe help with the drone at all? I have stock manifolds/cats at the moment. If not what other systems sound nice at wot and when you get on them but also have little to zero drone at highway cruising speeds etc? I also like the exotic sound the modded TI has is there any other similar sounding exhausts to the modded TI?
I'm most certain an X pipe will not help to quite down the drone from the Bullets.
Several years ago, when I switched from the stock Ti's to the BB Bullets,
I kept the Ti's to use when going on an occasional long trip to avoid the drone of the Bullets.
However, being I do my own mechanical work, it's no big deal to switch back & forth.
There is no way I would butcher up a stock set of Ti's to do the Ti mod.
However I'm sure you may be able to find a used set, already modified.

I had B&B Bullets installed as one of my first mods.
They droned for sure, but not too bad. A sound partition helped a bit. Adding Long tubes and full x pipe section they droned more. Adding heads/cam they droned even more... It was just ridiculous to me how bad they were after the heads/cam.
I have since installed GHL Bullets and they are never coming off my car. My wife will drive with me in my car now. She would not drive with me when I had B&B Bullets.
Toque - the GHL bullets do not drone at all? The bullets are fine around town when just going out for a fun ride, but the long highway trips hour and half or more are becoming a little annoying. My GF can't stand the drone and even i cant on the highways anymore.

I don't find any drone in mine at all. NOTHING like the B&B Bullets I had before. If there is a drone I really don't notice it. Its was a night and day difference when I removed the B&B's and installed my GHL's.
Highway speeds with both windows down I can just slightly hear the rumble of the of the exhaust from our back. Its a great sound. I am running a Vararam, LS2 TB, Fast 92 intake, AFR 205 heads, 590 lift cam, full length long tube headers with xpipe. They are loud at WOT for sure, but very pleasant around town. GHL Bullets are great at bringing out the "crack-crack-crack" sound of a cam..
A friend of mine has an automatic C5. He has an vararam, ported 243 heads, 630 lift cam, full length long tube headers with xpipe, and GHL Bullets. He also reports no resonance. He installed GHL Bullets on his car after hearing mine...
I removed my SLP Loudmouth. The drone on highway trips was literally a headache.
I purchased the 2.5 XS power catback and I love it. No drone, still very loud at wot, fully pollished, great tips. Put a big smile on my face it was much better than the slp.
Also only cost about 650 shipped for the catback and they come in 3 inch as well.
Echo, ive heard good things about the XS power catback, does it sound similar to a modded TI setup? If i change my exhaust i will want to go back to the more exotic sounding TI sound, but still want louder at wot.
I have never heard a moded ti.
I went from stock ti, to slp loudmouth to the xs power
My car has a small cam and a blower with just the xs power catback.
I would say that the xs power is a combo of muscular and exotic. Its a very quality exhaust and I love the tips and the fact that its pollished. Sometimes I wish I would of gone with the 3 inch system rather than the 2.5. I plan on getting the xs power headers at some point as well. Im sure an x pipe would also make it sound even better

Never Late-
I have found(*In my opinion) what I think the perfect setup is if you want loud, but not all the time. Have a built LS7 in my 2000 FRC. I went with the Corsa Touring catback system which has no drone at all, but have electronic exhaust cutouts welded in the pipes just ahead of the mufflers. I can open and close them at will. Can also drive on extended trips without the dreaded drone and actually hear my radio when I want to. Hope this helps.

My Z is has a modded LS3 and I just changed from TIs to XSPower 2.5" catback. I'm really happy with the change. I agree that it has a nice balance between muscle & exotic. Here's a write up I did on it.
Get a partition, makes a big difference. I too have B&B bullets on my 03 Z. It was great highway and around town but now I added high flow cats and an X pipe and it is much louder but still bearable.
I had twin tip Bullets and I hated the drone at cruising speed. Adding an X pipe did absolutely nothing for the drone but did eliminate some of the boat burble from the exhaust note when idling. Freeway speeds were dead center of the drone range until I installed LG Pro long tubes. When I did that the drone range moved down to 1,500 RPM, which you drive right through. Increase HP and eliminate drone, that's a good day!!
Thanks for the replies everyone. I am def looking for less drone however i want more exotic sounding exhaust notes, It seems the XS power and corsa pace cars have this sound as well as nearly zero drone. Anyones have opinions or can chime in on owning these two exhausts?
I just sold my corsa exhaust I didnt like the sounds of the corsa with my cam and lt's. The corsa will give you the high pitch sound and no drone. I put the B&B's on and love the deep sound, the drone is bad but its not my daily drive so it doesnt bother me. I did think about looking into the B&B Fusion exhaust it have mufflers and the bullet system. So when you want loud you can have it or quite when you dont
My '01 Z has Melrose Longtubes, X-pipe with Random Technology cats, and B&B Bullets. Drone is the name of the game. LOL. But, damn it sounds good when you're running through the gears.
i just recently installed my B&B Bullets. Yes, they are loud when accelerating but I have yet to experience any drone at cruising speeds. I'm running stock manifolds and h-pipe at the moment. I do have a divider in place so maybe that is helping some.
When accelerating there is a resonance around 2400-2500 rpm that is annoying but it is only for a very brief millisecond. The girlfriend was worried about the noise because they are loud outside the car and when accelerating but even she thought they were just fine at cruising speeds.
Now, in a few weeks I'll be installing long tubes and x-pipe so I'll see if that makes things worse or not.

Do you have a partition? If not, purchase one of good quality that seals tight. You could always build your own partition, not too difficult. Anyway, they do help. Also, just changing your cruise speed by +/-2 mph is often all that's needed.
