I did a search; nothing found.
This question is directed more toward those that have both tops for the coupe. I was cleaning the inside of my see through Targa and bumped it with an elbow. BOOM! It sounded like a muffled bass drum. Is it possible that much of the noise inside my coupe is coming from resonance from the Targa top? I tried thumping it with my hand and fingers and there is a very pronounced drum sound emitted each time. Although when new my coupe had both roofs, by the time I bought it only the transparent top was there. If this is a source for noise I'll try to figure a way to dampen or muffle it. I know many say it makes the inside a hot box once the summer sun arrives, maybe I'll just paint it Pewter and coat the inside with something. Thanks in advance.
Scott
I really notice 0 sound difference between the 2...but yes, the clear will certainly make for a hotter interior this summer...get yourself a colored top or one of the covers that pressure fit inside the clear top
What's the mileage on this vehicle? How are the tires?
Wheel bearing hub assemblies will make a lot of noise and vibration as they start to go bad. I'm dealing with that now, but I had the luxury of having the vehicle since it was almost new and I noticed the change in sound and vibration as time has passed.
If it is not a potential mechanical issue, sort of warning you, and its not the tires, then consider adding sound insulation especially for the tub. There are great kits for this, you pull all the interior out and add in the insulation then reinstall the carpet, trim seats etc.
You should notice a big change.
Also, look at the Ferguson sun jacket for the coupe if you want to keep the interior cool while it is parked outside. I have one for my vert I use throughout the summer while mine sits at work.

Mileage is just a shade over 40k (pun intended). Tires will be replaced soon as they are GY run flats from 2004. Although the tires look almost new I am not a fan of pushing my luck with older tires.
Any information on this "sun jacket"? Source, cost, effectiveness?
getting rid of the GY RF's will help out on the road noise...
Known for being SUPER loud!
So I have heard. (No pun intended). Do you have any information on this piece you mentioned that goes up into the transparent top? Nothing, and I do mean nothing, is going to sour me on my first Corvette. It was a long time in coming and I will learn to live with the quirks but, things that will make life easier are always most welcome.
Thanks,
Scott

check out Corvette Central or Mid America...they range from $32-$59 depending on brand
Lot's of choices depending if you want to stay with Runflats or go with a standard tire and carry air pump, fix flat stuff.
I just switched to Nitto NT-555s and carry the pump and stuff in the storage area. I ran the GY F1 EMTs, (2 SETS) Michelin Pilot Sport A/S ZPs and now the Nitto's. I like the Nitto's so far.

I'm sure the headliner in the solid top would help with sound reduction, but I've never noticed all that much difference. I would also think that a change of tires would do wonders for a reduction in noise in the car if you are currently riding on old tires.
Jet-Jock; The car is garaged and at shows and cruise-ins I will have the top out. I will however, keep that cover in mind for future consideration.
When I bought the car the tires were checked only for checking and tread condition. Both were excellent. There appears to be no more than a thousand or so miles on them. Once home and safely put away and the excitement abated, I checked for date codes and found that these new looking GYs were really beyond the safe age limits we now are aware of. Lesson learned. I think I'll try the headliner from Corvette Central and of course the new tires. My 69 Camaro ran without a spare for 13 years so I'm not worried about run flats. Leaning toward the Hankook V12s. Thanks again to everyone. This forum is indeed a wealth of information and great people.
