So, I have been playing the MPG game for the past 2 tanks of fuel. I am averaging 27MPG city/highway. Here she is filling up. I found 93 octane for $3.67 a gallon I really like how this pic turned out, even with her dirty after a rain storm the night before.
I would estimate 70% highway and 30% city. I commute highway to work, but I work in residential neighborhoods. I am mostly city on the weekends. My variance is between 26.7 and 27.3.
That is pretty good mileage. I've gotten up there a few times but mine fluctuates a lot even though I pretty much have the same daily route and ritual. Over a 6 month period between the dic reading and old fashioned 'rithmatic I'm looking at a little over 25 mpg. There are two factors that affect the difference between fill-ups. One is the various blends of fuel because I can't always get to the same "brand" stations to fill up. The other is the few times my wife drives it she makes a point to really blow the carbon out of it with her 200 lb right foot. With the other vette getting 9-10 mpg I would be ok getting 20 mpg from a car with so much smile factor.
BTW: I'm a shiny polished car guy but that rat rod matte looks damn good under lights at night.
is that 27 MPG manually calculated or onboard computer calculated?
it is from the computer, as to which I have factory tire heights and gears. I reset it over 2 tanks ago, so it is a total average over about the last 1k miles. I use the instant all the time to monitor how much I am pressing the accelorator. 5th and 6 gear can be used at 35 and 45 mph I can do better then the cruise control, especially using hills and such to my advantage

OK, Now if you were to do it the old fashion way(Do the math) you will find it isn't as good as you thought. The DIC isn't accurate, Close but not correct.

If the DIC were not accurate then, the stated mileage would be off too. Along with the fuel light and the miles left in the tank, which is calculated by your average MPG. I find it to be real accurate about how many miles are left in the tank along with my average, which I have calculated by hand before.
The DIC gets thrown off when people start changing tire heights and gear ratios. I have noticed many guys running 275's up front, 305's out back, as well as 19's and 20's.

Funny with stock tire sizes front and rear my dic is off. What I found really odd is the difference between the dic and monitoring the OBD2 data stream. Especially the instant mileage. Oh and neither matched the fill and calculate method. Even that method is hard because of the two tanks and trying to figure out when they're both full

Ill try the calculate method, and let you guys know

You might try a search, This has been covered a number of times and most with stock tires say it is off when you do the math, If you say yours is correct you are one of the rare ones. Also so you know changing gears will not effect the speedo on a C5.
