key fob range

Default key fob range

how far should the range be with a new battery? i did put in a new battery and did the re-learn. i get about 5 feet range.

Farther than that. It looks stupid, but if you need to limp along with a bad one, you can boost the range of the remote by pressing the end against your temple when you hit unlock/lock. Should give you an extra 10 feet of range

You're lucky. Mine lights up the tester at the parts store from about 3 inches away. Does nothing for my car

A working fob will work from over 50 feet away. At least all of mine have on a 98, 01, and two 03's.

The owner's manual says the range can be as much as 100 feet. I know mine works much further away than 5 feet.

I can walk out the door at the office in the parking garage and open mine from at least 100 feet away.

Or up against your throat area. It uses your body as an antenna. Most will not believe this, but give it a try. Stand just out reach of your fob, then hold your fob against head area and try. Dental fillings will increase your range also.
