Once you get the all-clear from the law enforcement there, you might want to get a letter or something that states the facts for you...just in case of a future issue or getting stopped somewhere else. Just replacing the door panels probably won't fix the problem as the dogs are super sensitive to the smells and not for the short term.

About 23 years ago I bought a US Marshalls sale 1971 Detomaso Pantera. within 2 weeks the passenger side window (electric) stopped working. I was wondering if a bag of drugs had jammed the mechanism. When I looked at it, it was just the electrical connector. I was wondering if there was drugs and I tried to sell them if the car would have gone through 2 government sales. Fortunately, didn't have to go there. I liked girls and not bad guys in my jail cell.

Had the doggies at the base where I work go thru mine after I bought it, just so I never end up that guy face down on a traffic stop. Have done that to every car I have owned since I went in the military in 84.

I bought a Pantera from a US Marshalls sale some 20 years ago. When I restored the car I wondered what I might find. Did not find anything so if the guy was busted for drugs apparently the car was not used for hiding.

Remove the tailights and look inside the rear bumper area with a flashlight.....Oh just never mind.....take it to the police station and ask if their drug dog can do a sniff test! Of course explain your predicament. And be sure to youtube the search...could be very funny for us to see!

I'm an old cop & narc (70's - 80's) and there's residue in that car. The advice you've been given to have that thing checked out is the best there is...I hope you've done it, because if I had stopped you and a dog alerted, I take the car down to the last nut and bolt (I've done it and didn't have to put it back together) and you've probably get a cavity search as well!
