Default Racemesh Installation Question...

Question for those who have installed the lower rear fascia and side cove Racemesh screens.

I have read the instructions and checked their website, however my question is on how much silicone adhesive to apply and where?

For the lower rear fascia screens, do you apply it through the Racemesh after they are taped into position? Do you apply any to the cross bar in between the two open areas in the lower rear fascia? I like the idea of using twist ties through the mesh to hold the screens in place while the silicone bonds.

On the side coves, do you simply run a bead around the edges?

The fear fascia screens and side cove screens that I am replacing were installed using double-sided tape and were pre-conformed with an "L" lip to connect. The Racemesh are flat screens thus the questions.

Thanks! Hoping some Racemesh install vets have some advice.

A 3/16 bead will do

Place the bead on the fascia

You can apply to the cross bar

Yes run the bead on the edge

Gently pre-form the cove vent screens before you silicone them.
Go slow - it is hard to un-do a bend that has gone to far

Peace
Chip

Thanks. My challenge with the rear screens is that I have a Corsa Exhaust in place and I barely have enough room to squeeze my fingers in between let alone lay a bead of sloppy silicone.

I know I could drop the exhaust however I don't want to go there without trying other methods.

I'm thinking about taping the screens in place with just enough blue painters tape to hold them in place and the use plastic zip ties through the screens and around the center cross bar to secure them in place.

I can then remove the tape and apply the silicone with my finger, while using disposable mechanics gloves, around the edges and crossbar.

The side coves will be easier.

Well that didn't work!

I just made a mess of the silicone with the mesh not sticking to the fascia even with the zip ties.

There has got to be a more logical way to apply a straight edge onto a vertical section with silicone. I cannot remove the fascia and I don't want to drop the Corsa exhaust.

The last, cheaper, set of SS mesh had folder "L" lips on both the top and bottom that used double sided tape that attached to the top and bottom sections like a vice. Lasted five years. The Racemesh, which is very nice in terms of quality, is completely straight so I'm attaching one vertical piece to another vertical piece.

I'm really hoping that someone has figured out a better installation procedure or has another trick I can try...
