I'm installing a set of PIAA 3057 hi intensity bulbs in the back of my 2003 tail lights. Since they run hotter, anyone think I should drill say 1/8 or 1/16 ventilation holes in the backside of the stock lenses ? If so, where ? I have a set of tail light seals installed on the lenses already.
I went w/led's. Don't know if drilling holes is a good idea, me thinks this could cause problems. Good luck which-ever way u go.
Thank you, I've tried LEDs and stock and in the evening, the stock 3057 really were as bright as the LED's. I tied it myself and the LEDs weren't worth the $375.00 price tag. So my last stab is going with a set Of PIAA light bulbs. Somethings you just can't improve.

375 for LED bulbs?
I installed a set of LED housings for less than that and they are about 100% brighter than stock,
Mr.Bill.

This item on ebay is loaded to overflowing models and the number of LED's and prices, What I don't like is the ones with 24 to 28 LED's cost anywhere from $199.00 to $375.00. To me that's a lot of scratch for make shift tail lights, And then there are some with just the bayonet coupler hanging out the bulb location, I mean it looks like a make-shift assembly. And then how do I know the difference between the number of leds.
What do you think of this one? anything like yours? Thank you ! Very confused at this point.

I would contact Jon at JWMotoring. He has the ones I have and never had any issues in the last few years, As far as the eBay ones you posted, I would pass on them. http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c5-p...stock-jwm.html

Like Bill said halos or nothing.
$255 shipped plus free led license plate lights.
I've never tried the PIAA bulbs in the tails. I guess a couple of holes won't hurt as long as water doesn't get in. Aren't the stock tails already vented in the back? It's been a while since I've seen a set of those...

Thanks Mr. Bill Your right, If I'm going forward with this I'll contact JW@JWMotoring. They have a great reputation. No sense wasting money on something I'm trying to improve to amateurs.

Hay Jon,
If the PIAA's don't work out I'll buy your units. I assume there isn't anything other then the LED tail lights right? it's a "plug & play" units ? I drill 3/16 holes in the back of my stock tail lights and attached one small 1/16 nipples to vert the units themselves.
I bouht a set of PIAA 3157 bulbs for my Pontiac back-up lights, but the lenses themselves got super hot so I knew that wasn't going to fly and I put the stock Sylvania 3157's back in. PIAA make some great bulbs, I replaced my license plate housing with a 'Judure' unit and installed the PIAA 3157's in there and when I shift into reverse, damn lights light up all the way to the street. But of course, the back-up housings in a C5 are quite large and the bulbs can cool quickly. I'll be in touch. Thank you !
