Last week I got the "pull key, wait 10 seconds" message on the DIC. The steering wheel did NOT lock up, just the error message. I've actually never had the wheel lock up on me at all. I didn't drive it until I bought a CLB and installed it today. I did everything carefully according to the instructions and now I'm getting both "pull key" error message along with "service column" (on almost every other try they switch around) on the DIC and can't drive the car because of the fuel cutoff. The column is still OK though, it's not locked up.
I've tried removing the negative battery terminal and connected it again, same goes for removing and connecting fuse 25 and fuse 23. No matter what, I'm still getting the error messages and can't drive it.
As far as I know, I don't have a k harness (didn't see it).
What now?
Should I get it towed to a tuner and have them program the fuel cutoff for 200 MPH? Won't I still have the error messages? I want those cleared from the DIC.
This is what my car did, exactly, pull key/service column lock...Start the car and fast idle charge the battery for a minute or two. I know it sounds crazy, but it did the trick for me. I replaced the battery in my car, that temporarily cured this issue, but it did return a few days later. I ended up installing the LMC5 module at the BCM, deleting the relay for the column lock and the issue has not returned. You can go the tuner route and raise the fuel cutoff, but I would rather bypass and remove the relay.

I had looked through the sticky in the C5 tech forum and I hadn't seen any mention of the LMC5. I ordered the part from Compliance Parts after I saw this post and Richard from Compliance was actually in my area and came by and installed the module himself in less than 5 minutes. My car was back on the road with no issues and no error messages on the DIC.
If I had known about the LMC5 module, I would have skipped the CLB entirely as it sounds like a better way to go around the column lock problem.
I am happy things worked out! Richard is a bad *** dude!
He is not local to me, but went out of his way to make sure I got it overnight, even sent another module at no extra charge (just in case). At the time I called him my car was stranded in office parking lot. He sent a some detailed procedures with regard to getting the part installed and the car going in the interim while I waited for the part.
