This happenjed to me and it was just the start of more to come. The wiring to the driver's side door panel has a reputation for wiring gremlins. After some time I started gettimg all kinds of faulse codes and warnings, but it first showed up as a loss of drivers panel. Drove me crazy for a long time.

If it happens again, try wiggling the wiring in the accordian tube that runs from the body to the door. Do this without turning off the car and as soon as you notice the problem again. You may start getting all kinds of warnings on the DIC (Driver Information Center). If at night you should notice the panel will be unlit.

Also seaarch on how to pull codes from the DIC panel, or DIC Codes. If you already know this, then run through the codes. There may be some codes there that show you have had a communication loss with the door control module. You could do a search on my name and find posts where people have helped me and the problems I experianced. Good luck!

Do you have a window valet unit installed? Might have been the loose fuse.

Default will do

KenShores Thanks ill start there. If it happens again I may just decide to pull everything out and replace it. I don't want to have the window stuck down when I'm out with the car.

The problem in the doorjams is a connector that contains the serial interface wire. Usually when this pin/socket goes intermittent, you get all kinds of problems such as gauges messing up and so on along with the door problems. Next time this happens to you, give the doorjam accordian tube a good shake and see if anything changes.

In fact, you don't even have to wait until it starts again. You can just start wiggling the accordion tube and the wiring within it, while you are home safe. I would recommend doing it in the evening (lights on) or garage, so that you can see if the lighting on the door panel flickers. If it does your on the right track.

There is a connector inside the tube, that joins the door panel wiring harness with the body harness. It's a bit of a pain, but you can maneuver the tube away from the door and wiring and see the joining connectors and wiring. Again there are some old posts, maybe even "stickies" that have pics and show all this. It will go back together just fine, just a bit of a struggle.

The connector pins/connections can get oxidized and cause an open. This "open" condition would explain the "no operation" of window, locks etc.

I think I had a shorting problem between two or more wires. I found that the panel just inside the body and up under the dash (PITA), was loose and allowing the wiring to move as the door opened and closed.

Some have found that the wiring is stripped back a little too far from the connector (inside the tube) and can cause shorts. There has been many (I think) that have had these gremlins, so there are many posts concerning this. Check out the DIC codes as well.

Lets us know what you find. The thing about these damn gremlins is they get around. I worry that they will hear me typing about them, get mad, and attack again.

Good Luck

Ok, Went out with the car and parked it window would not go up. I tried moving the rubber acordian pc between the door and the car and after a couple seconds of doing this the window went up.
Now what should I address.

Thanks

There is a connector in there with a lose pin/socket. Pull out the connector, clean and tighten the pin/socket and you'll be fine once more. Bill Curlee has pictures in the Tech Section of the offending problem.

The connector has some pins that could need cleaning and maybe spread out a little. Look over the pins of the connector, they have a little bit of a springiness to them to insure contact. You may have to open/bend the contacts on bot sides of the connectors to help them make contact. You can pick up contact cleaner at radio shack. Just be sure to read the can to make sure it will not damage plastic. TV tuner cleaner should work, but very few people have that type of TV anymore, so the cleaner may not be available.
