My front tires TPMS work as they should but the rears give my Lxxx & Rxxx.
I tried to re-sync them and the horn only blew on the front two signaling they were OK. Neither rear synced. Are they spent?
I bet they are original as I bought the car from the original owner. There was an old one in a box in the glove box. One valve stem cap is black & the rest are the grey Schrader caps. I bet the one with the black cap has been replaced. They are crazy expensive! Can it be programed out?
Ther rear 2 are probably gone and unless the front's were replaced recently, the fronts are probably not far behind. The battery in the sensors last 6 to 8 years usually but if the car was not driven a lot they can last much longer. I've read about some 97 owners with the original batteries. Unfortunately the TPM's for the 1997 - 2000 are more expensive than for the 2001 - 2004...
3 choices to fix this issue.
1) buy new ones. Cost is expensive if you go to a delaer but there are more reasonible at Tire Rack for example about $60 each
2) contact Corvette Don a forum member that installs new batteries in the early sensors and sells them for a reasonible price. There may be other form members also doing this.
3) DIY. Here's a thread on replacing the batteries yourself:
