Getting ready for a dyno tune for the 1st time. The tuner recommended a new thermostat and upgraded plugs in addition to the tune. It added quite a bit for parts and labor to the total cost. Just wondering if all that was needed in addition to the dyno. The total cost is still not too bad more than I was intending to spend.
My Vette is stock other than a Vararam intake and Corsa sport exhaust.

Many people that get tunes put in a 160* thermostat so the request by the tuner is not unreasonable - but you can do it yourself and save some cash. Same goes with the plugs - just find out what ones are recommended, buy them and DIY.
a) just to ensure that your plugs are fresh. Nothing's more embarrassing (at the least) than having to stop a dyno tune because of a bad plug.
b) sometimes a tune may require a plug of a different heat range depending on what modifications were done to the car. High compression and FI cars especially require a plug in the colder range to conduct heat away from the electrode to reduce the chance of detonation and prolong plug life.
