but he is a better person for it.....

Was it the rubber/plastic handle grip of his bike that marred it? If so, it might just be surface transfer and buff out completely.
If it got under the clear coat....it's a mark that won't go away.
What did the body folks say regarding this?
Anyway....just over thinking....looks like you've done the homework and have "small claims" in your near future. Bummer.

Parents never took responsibility and never contacted me. I have never taken civil action against anyone in my life and I am 37 years old. These people are responsible for the damage to my car and I refuse to pay for them. I have filed a case in small claims court for the repair of my car. This is one of the problems with society today, people not owning up to their responsibilities. Well I hope these parents learn a life lesson my parents taught me long ago when our case is heard on August 14, 2012.

I recall driving a beater for 10 straight years without ever having an incident of shopping carts slam into me. Body flawless..no dings..dents..etc.. When I got a new beamer, within 1 month of ownership, as I was sitting outside in the parking lot of walmart, bam...shopping car slams into my front fender.
It seems like no matter how careful we are in calculating ways to minimize the chance of something bad happening to our cars, it happens anyway. So the moral of the story is, don't love the car too much. If it happens, then it was meant to be.

I loved that car so much that when the 5th gen Camaros came out, I had to have one!! I bought a 2010 "Bumblebee" with 1500 miles on it. Not new, but pretty dang close. Planned to keep it forever as it was the closest to brand new as I had ever bought!!
Well........fourth day home with it, we had a major hail storm and got caught in it. $3500.00 of damage!! Got it fixed and went on. A few months later, on my way to school for a night basketball game, a dog jumped up out of the barr ditch right in front of me with no time to react!! Hit it dead center at 70 mph. Another $3500.00 worth of damage!!!! While I was waiting for my appointment to get it in and get that fixed, a bunch of kids decided to go around town and throw rocks at vehicles. Yes, mine got tagged and guess what?!?!?!? Another $3500.00 estimate for the damages!!!!!!!!!
At this point, I realize that no matter how much I like this car, it has some serious bad Ju JU issues!!!!!! I got rid of it as soon as it was whole again and hope that the next guy has much better luck with it!!!!!!!! Sometimes you just gotta know when it's time to say, "Okay, enough!"

My only recourse was to tell the kids to get out, and that I'd have the police patrol the area and arrest them if they came back. My lot has a real nice steep area that's paved that's fun for skateboarding, etc. It's off a back alley so its safe, no traffic to avoid. I said that when someone came forward to pay for my car, I'd change the policy of no more using the parking lot for recreation. Well, nobody ever came forward, it's been 12 years or so, and I haven't changed my mind about allowing kids in there. I was a kid once too, and I was responsible for what I did. I didn't need prodding about it either. Then, here's a case where the parents are teaching the kid to be just as low as they are.
Good on ya for winning. I still can hardly believe it.
Until he decided to refinance his mortgage, that is. Couldn't budge until the lien was corrected. It had been 3 years, so I got interest tacked on at 5% APR simple.

Good luck w/ yours!
As has been said by others, trust that the payment comes quickly and you can move on!
Appreciate you sharing your experiences all the way the journey
