A cut down Velmex aluminum slide was used along with a small gear motor, the stock latch is mounted to the slide and two limit switches control it. Once the latch is released the motor goes on to lift and when the latch is compressed the motor goes on to close. The motor isn't strong enough to cut anything, it just stops. The lid is easy to close since it doesn't initially have to compress air or weather seals.
